Disabled man in Peel hopes to meet Salman Khan

PEEL - The hot news about Bollywood megastar Salman Khan's appearance at a Brampton event tomorrow (Aug. 30) has spread like a wild fire.

Fans of Bollywood's Dabang star cannot wait to see a glimpse of Khan, and they are currently discussing him on all social media outlets.

However, a family of disabled young man wants the star and maker of new Bollywood filmDr. Cabbie to help bring a smile to their son's face.

"It has been my dream to meet Salman," said Hadi Hasnat, 28, who has cerebral palsy. "Since I cannot go out, most of the time I just watch Salman movies.

"Now I want to meet you (Khan) and shake your hand."

Khan will be joining the cast and musicians of Dr. Cabbie for a free outdoor launch of the film's music at an event tomorrow at Brampton's SilverCity Cinema, 50 Great Lakes Dr.

Lilly Singh, an Indo-Canadian YouTube personality known as Superwoman', is hosting the event along with the cast members Vinay Virmani, Kunal Nayyar and newcomer Isabelle Kaif.

Dr. Cabbie's story revolves around a newly arrived immigrant doctor in Canada who cannot get a job and is forced to become a taxi driver. He finally becomes a local hero when he converts his taxi into a mobile medical clinic.

"My son is living with CP (cerebral palsy) and I will do anything to bring smile on Hadi's face," said Mohammad Hasnat, a longtime Mississauga businessman.

"I know he (Khan) is a very kind person, but I promise to also hand over a $1,000 cheque to his charity if he meets my son," said Hasnat.

Hasnat appealed to the star to spare a minute out of his busy schedule and meet his son.

Khan runs Salman Khan Foundation, a charity organization in India that supports the Being Human Foundation which raises funds for various charities.

"I watched every movie starring you (Khan). You remind me of Sylvester Stallone," said Hadi.

"I have an extremely difficult time living with cerebral palsy, not having the same opportunities that most boys and men get. But, you (Khan) have always been my favorite actor. I watched Ek Larka Ek Larki when I was five years old. My parents still laugh at the fact that I would watch the movie several times a day."
