Yes, he was going off-sur in the beginning. I was surprised that the judges did not remark on that! I suppose they were relieved he did not forget the lyrics.

I have heard this song several times this year on other reality shows - Irfan (VOI) and Aneek (SRGMP) have sung it beautifully without going off sur even once.

Btw, I like Amit's voice a lot, but for this song, he was off sur in the beginning and then recovered towards the end.

Emon sang Mitwa in a different key and changed a few rhythms here and there. He never went off-sur even once.

Even if Amit sang In Dinon in a lower key, he was off-sur in the beginning. This song CAN be sung properly live and does not need recording studio help. Two other people (Irfan and Aneek) have already sung it properly LIVE.

I have nothing against Amit, but this is just what I noticed 😳

actually it's each to their own opinion, I'm not saying Emon went of key, I did not start a topic saying emon went off key when he didn't, it's just sad that people can't enjoy a flawless performance and say that it's so. i listened to him singing this song about 100 times by now, i asked everyone i know, i even got my bro who's studying music to listen to it and play it on the paino for me. on the key that he starts if it does sound a little flat it would be a miracle. and I admit amit is not a miracle maker, just that he tried something different than the others.
As for the snide comment about judges not saying anything to him cos they were relived that he didn't forget the lyrics. well even after the judeges abused him when he forgot the lyrics the people supported him. even udit narayan who wasn't saying he was the best singer that night didn't say he went off key, you know how they are, even if a contestant goes off one key there's a big ha ho, so i think they didn't mention this cos they know more about music then us.
Anyway i'm not going to defend Amit to you guys anymore cos anyone who likes good singing would enjoy amit's singing without having to point out baseless flaws on his performance. this is it for me. sorry if i offended anyone.

The comment wasn't snide. It was a simple statement of fact. Indian Idol judges are a little more lenient on the contestants' technique. So unless the song was completely off-key like Charu's recent performance, they will not make a mention of it. Also, they are extremely inconsistent with their remarks based on their own personal biases, but that's a different story 😆

I don't believe any singer is a miracle worker. But, if two other amateur singers can pull off the whole 4-5 min song without going flat, so can Amit in his 1.5 minute performance. That is my expectation from him considering the fact that he's among the top 3-4 male vocalists.

The performance had some flaws and they were pointed out as constructive criticism. No one had any intention of running Amit down.

ok that's your opinon and this is mine. since non of us are trained singers or musicians we can argue on this forever but still not come to a conclusion. i'll bow down now but i trully believe that amit did not hit a flat note. if you guys can please play a instrument on the note he started and sing and see, i assure you that you will know why he's voice sounds bhari, btw the other singers whom you mentioned sang on the note the orignial song was sung, Amit did his own version of it.
As for judeges being linent, watch the video again, look at Anu malik's reaction after Amit finishes the first stanza, you will notice him nodding in apprecation, you think he was linient when he didn't think anyone was watching him.
i guess we all love our favourites and can't bare to see them attacked, still setting aside all that, i respect your opinion and if you said that as constructive criticism then i won't disagree.
