agree with you...at one side they talk about middle class living...savings...and all

other side they spend so lavish on these festivals,loads of lighting, decoration, specially made dresses, organizing functions, as you said can't they show like celebrating Ganesh Mahostsav in a simple way..

like keeping the ganesh idol in society compound, simple pooja, sweets and all...and spend all the collected money on something good...!!!...millions of people watch this show...and by showing all this we can give message to everyone too..

@kedar and @Ahmed, the makers are merely increasing the number of episodes by putting in games and programs..They think that the audience loves such stuff..Actually in reality they have ran out of ideas and don't have anything innovative to show
