No, this is just NR, dramatization.
Notice how Maham wears white but other widows including HB don't.
If I recall correctly, at Amer too, Dadisa's saris are plain enough, but they are not chalk white.
However, all over the world, across various cultures and religions white is associated with purity, simplicity, spirituality, etc., and traditions have evolved to use it in one of those connotations: brides, widows, nuns, the Pope. :)
