Last Part

"I prayed for you today.." Madhu told him while looking away.

"Really? You did..." Rishabh asked wide eyed.

"Yes... You will surely have her.." she forced a smile.

"I wish..." Rishabh said smiling.

"Who is she? Cant you show me?" Madhu asked curiously. Who could be more beautiful than her.?

"Yes of course... Come here..." Rishabh said getting up. He held her hand and walked to one direction.

"Isnt village the other way?" Madhu asked confused when Rishabh walked to the opposite side.

"You know Madhu... At first I had thought I wont tell you whom I love..." Rishabh said ignoring her questions.

"Really...? Why?" She asked back.

"Because its almost impossible that I would be united with my love.." he said disappointed.

It killed Madhu to see his disappointed face and the hurtful smile. She wanted him to be happy even if it meant that he would be with someone else.

"Why do you say that...? You would get her..." Madhu said supportingly.

"Thanks... Thatsy i decided to tell you... You are a fairy and you prayed for me... maybe God listens to your prayers.." Rishabh saiid hopefully.

Madhu smiled at him.

"See.. Here she is..." Rishabh said pointing one way.

Madhu looked around but couldn't see anyone. Then she noticed they were standing beside the lake. It looked beautiful having trees all around and the image of moon glistening on its surface. Thats when she noticed her own reflection. She looked at Rishabh in a shock.

"This?" She questioned in a dazze.

"Not this... You.." Rishabh said to her.

"Me? You love me?" She asked again not believing.

"Didnt I tell you.. I love the most beautiful girl I have ever seen... who could be more beautiful than you..." Rishabh said smiling at her.

Madhu looked him as tears of happiness filled her eyes.

"Are you upset with it? No forget all this if you are... but please dont cry..." Rishabh said panicking. Already he was afraid that Madhu might get offended with his declaration of love.

"No.. you dumbo... i am happy..." she said hitting him on his shoulder.

Rishabh and Madhu were now back to their clearing. There was an unsual silence between them but they felt tranquil just in each other's presence knowing that they love each other.

Rishabh turned his head towards Madhu and saw her sitting on the branch while swaying her legs above the ground. The wind blew through her hair. She looked ethereal and glistened in the moonlight.

"You can never come down?" Rishabh asked still staring her.

Madhu looked at him and it dawned on her. She hadnt thought of it. She lowered her head sharply to her feet. She was above the ground.

"Right... I cannot..." she said to herself shocked.

She looked at him with tears in her eyes.

"Are these again tears of happiness..?" Rishabh said jokingly. He couldnt see her in hurt.

Madhu let out a half hearted laugh. She broke the fruit from the tree and threw it at Rishabh.

"Wont you show me something from your world? Like I did.." Rishabh asked trying to distract her.

"How can I take you to our mountain...?" Madhu asked.

"Yeah right..." Rishabh said disheartened.

"wait but i can take u to another place..." Madhu said excitedly.

She flew to him and grabbed his hand. Soon Rishabh had to run to keep up pace with her.

"Whoahh.. Slow down angel.." he said.

"Yeah yeah... walk faster..." Madhu said paying least heed to his protest.

"Walk?! M already running.." he said .

"See we are here!!!" Madhu shrieked.

Rishabh looked around. They were standing on a cliff. On one side was a waterfall. Not just any waterfall, the water in it was sparkling and shining with light. On the bank of the water were flowers which glowed. And on the other side was a higher cliff with lightened flowers and sparkling grass.

"Wow!! What is this?" He asked amazed.

"This is the start of our world.. and we are prohibited from this place onwards. Only at night we are allowed to come till here but not further.." Madhu told him.

"Ohhh... thatsy we are so strictly prohibited from coming to the forest at night.." Rishabh said amazed with the beauty of the place.

"Wait I will show you more.." she said as she held his hands and fluttered her wings.

"What are you doing?" Rishabh asked panicking.

"Taking you to the other cliff.." she said in a pressured voice as she attempted to mve him above the ground.

"You wont be able to take my weight.." Rishabh protested.

"Thats what you think.." she said and finally Rishabh was above the ground. Madhu started to fly over the waterfall.

"Madhu... You are scaring me now.. Its so dangerous.." he exclaimed in panic.

"Aren't you enjoying the flight.. see you are flying too" Madhu said excitedly.

" Flying?? This is called hanging!" He exclaimed again.

"Look at the beauty.. you will forget that you are hanging.." Madhu said.

She was right. Rishabh looked at the waterfall. It was so close from the front and it was way more beautiful. The water sparkling and falling from such a great height.

Soon they reached the other side. Madhu made him land on the ground.

"Look around!" Madhu shrieked in excitement.

Rishabh looked around and he was dumbstruck. From that cliff he could see above the forest, he could see the horizon. The dark blue night and stars in the sky. Where he stood, there were flowers that glowed. Rishabh touched one of them very sure that he would be burned but to his surprise the flower was cold.

"See Rishabh... This is where you live..." Madhu said. "How beautiful it is all around right?" She said as she flew way above Rishabh's height.

Rishabh looked up at her. She looked so ethereal. She was glowing in her white attire. And he couldnt help but stare at her. Madhu noticed his gaze and she too felt lost in his eyes. She lowered her torso to his level while her legs still stayed where they were. Without even realizing any thing more they both had their lips locked with each other. The breeze was blowing and they felt as if they were eternally to freeze in that moment.

They kissed each other to their hearts content. It was a picture perfect scene. A fairy flying in the sky and kissing the human. They forgot that they are two different worlds. All they remembered was their need and love for each other.

After sometime they broke the kiss. Madhu blushed while Rishabh smiled. They looked at each other and shared a promise which was unspoken between them.

Madhu took him back to his side of the waterfall and this time Rishabh wasnt afraid.

"Ok Rishabh.. will you be able to go back from here? Its already late.. I have to go now.."

"Yes I will go..." he said to her with a smile.

Madhu started to fly away and their hands seperated but their eyes still didnt leave each other.

"Rishabh.."

"Yes"

"I will always be yours.." she said blushing.

"me too Madhu.. Just yours." Rishabh said and then Madhu flew away. Rishabh stayed there for a while and then walked off.

The next evening RK came almost running to their clearing. He sat down at their tree and admired their names written together. He lied down on the ground and stared at the sky waiting for his love. Minutes passed by and then hour.. Rishabh started worrying.

"Was she fine?" He thought to himself.

He waited and waited but there was no clue of Madhu. Dawn arrived and Rishabh greeted the first ray of sun. But Madhu didnt come. Rishabh went back disheartened.

" Maybe she got busy with something.." he consoled hinself. The whole day Rishabh kept worrying what happened to Madhu. He tried to sleep but he couldnt.

Night arrived and Rishabh went to forest again but there was no sign of Madhu. He waited for her but she wasnt coming. Not knowing when but Rishabh fell asleep as he was lying down waiting for her. He woke up and found it was day. He looked around but couldnt find Madhu. He was very worried now.

It was the third night and Rishabh went to his clearing praying to God that at least now he is able to meet his Madhu. He was sitting near the branch on which Madhu used to sit. Suddenly his gaze fell on their tree. Their was something on it. He ran to the tree and saw. It was a letter written on a parchment.

Rishabh opened it and read.

"Rishabh.. That night when we kissed someone from the fairyland saw us. And now I am strictly forbidden to leave my premises. A fairy's duty is to pray for the welfare of the world. Not to fall in love. I know you must be waiting for me daily. I dont know if I would ever be able to come down again. Since 3 days I am trying to write this in your language. Found the script in the old library here."

Rishabh was shocked. Does this mean that he wont be able to see her ever now. Had their love ended before getting started. Rishabh ran like crazy to the cliff where Madhu had taken him the last time.

"Madhuuu" he screamed hard. "Madhuu" he screamed again. But all that came was his own echo.

He screamed for a few more times and then tired he fell on the ground. Tears of helplessness flowed down his eyes.. He cried as he sat there. He looked up to see the other side of the cliff and he remembered how Madhu took him there. He remembered their kiss. His lips broke into a smile with tears still flowing down his cheeks. Thats when he noticed the white shadow on the other side. He felt it was his Madhu. "Madhu.." he called out again and the shadow flew towards him. "Yes.. It is her.." Rishabh told himself as he rejoiced seeing her beautiful face.

Madhu came flying and landed herslef on his chest. They both hugged each other. Madhu cried on his shoulder while he cried too.

"Rishabh take me away... just take me far away.." she wailed.

Rishabh calmed her down.

"Madhu... You said you wont be able to come back.?" Rishabh asked still crying and not believing himself. "I waited for you all these days.."

"I am not allowed to come out of fairy land ever again. And I was standing on the boundary when you screamed my name. The gaurd who was standing couldnt bear the pain that was in your voice and she allowed me to meet you for the last time." Madhu told him.

"Last time?" Rishabh was shocked. "No." he said.

"I wont go back Rishu... I would step on this ground and then I wont be a fairy anymore.." Madhu said happily. She was about to descend when Rishabh held her in his arms tightly.

"What are you doing Madhu?" He asked panicking holding her close to himself.

"This is our only way.." she protested.

"But you would get burnt.." Rishabh said.

"Yes.. but at least we would be together..." Madhu said with a smile as tears still filled her eyes.

"No Madhu.. I am not that selfish.. I wont let you hurt yourself.."

"But Rishabh.. If not then they would take me away from you.." Madhu cried.

"We love each other Madhu... We may be far but we would never get seperated.." Rishabh said looking into her eyes.

"But..." Madhu tried to protest.

"Madhu... I cant put your life in danger just to keep you with myself.." Rishabh said.

Madhu hugged him tightly and cried hard. "I wont be able to live without you..." she wailed.

Rishabh patted her head. "I wont be able to live without you too.."

"Madhu..." Rishabh said as she calmed down.

"I love you a lot.. and I am true to my promise.. I would always stay yours.." Rishabh said as he tried to hold back his tears so not to make Madhu cry agaiin.

"I am yours Rishabh... and forever will be.." she said as she rested her head on her shoulder.

Rishabh noticed a larger white shadow on the cliff on the other side.

"Madhu.. There is someone.." he said to her and she turned back scared.

"She has come to take me away..." Madhu said crying again.

Rishabh held her face and kissed her on her forehead.. "Take care..." he said.

"But.." Madhu tried to protest.

"Please Madhu... For my sake... I would die if I see you in pain... At least I would know that you are fine somewhere, thats enough for me. " he said smiling to her.

Madhu nodded and started flying away. Rishabh saw her going away until she was no more visible. He stood there for a few seconds and when he was sure Madhu wouldnt be able to see him anymore his legs gave way and he dropped to the ground. Tears that he had been holding infront of her now started to flow. He cried and muffled his voice lest Madhu might hear him. He looked at his arms which had Madhu in them just a few minutes back and now he wont ever be able to touch her. He looked at her world and realized that he was never made to be with her. He didnt know how long he sat there crying for their love.

The next evening Rishabh again walked into the forest. But today his steps were a lot quiet. He didnt have to run to meet his Madhu now. He slowly walked to the clearing and touched the branch on which Madhu used to sit. He saw the tree where their names were written together and he felt content. He smiled slightly as he remembered his nights with her. But today he didnt stop at the clearing, he walked further and reached the cliff. He looked to the other side and took in a deep breath.

He sat down there as he kept looking at the cliff. He suddenly felt Madhu's presence. His breath became erratic and he stared intently at the other side. He noticed a white shadow appering on the cliff. He knew it was Madhu. He smiled seeing her. Madhu too sat down on her side. And they just stayed knowing each other's presence.

"At least she can comfortably sit now.." Rishabh joked to himself as he broke into a slight laugh.
