I did not say you were against Brahmins..But your post gave an impression that you were actually holding the higher caste people for the prevailing of the Caste system...Unfortunately the fact of the matter today is, the very so called sheduled castes and tribes, want the caste system to sustain and keep bestowing them with rewards like 'reservations' etc...

Why People only think that In hindus have only Caste system??? Dont you think other religion dont have caste system? Sometime they not tell its caste...bt I call it Caste.

In US or UK may dont ask caste...but india Govt itself ask about ur caste.....My NRI friends if you check your passport you can Find your caste. 😊

*Do they really exist today?

In India, they still exist certain undeveloped places like Bihar and UP... it is also in some extent in South India.... However most important reason for it is Politics, the politians are allowerd to what they call as support to a particular caste... ex. Mayawati had come as leader for dalits, Karunanidhi is also leader for particular caste... similar ways are others...

So for me the existence of the castes is for political benefits only😊

*In this day and age is there any need or space for them?

Not only there is no need of them, It should be banned legally to mention the castes everywhere and only religion shall be allowed. Jab tak people will divide themselves with caste, the politicians will gain as much benefits as they can, even at the cost of division in the society😊

*Purpose of the caste system

There is no positive purpose of caste system today. Earlier the castes were invented based on the works of each person. but there is nothing such now.... What is disappointing is spreading of this division in society by the government😊

* Who still belives in them

Noone believes in them, but if someone is given benefits, they will believe in them, muft ki roti kaun nahi chahta??? For this benefits, the dalits themselves like to be called dalits... eventhough i know its a caste, I dont know whic of my friends belong to it.... because i never cared to know caste of a person.... the castes cant be abolished voluntarily because of the politicians but they can be legally.... Of course politicians do it with religions too but we cant put legal restrictions on using religions... but sure it can be done with castes😊

Me personally i hate the caste system within the UK sikhs that exists because i feel theres no need for it and segregation. As far as i see everyone really still has similar standard of living and all really do same kind of jobs. So why do peopl have such a issue with it? maybe i just do not understand it. Especailly when it comes to marriages people sometimes create such a issue i just think 😕what difference does it make what people use to do back in india we have to live here .I would love to know about experiances all over especailly in india has well all sides 😃 so all views welcom
