Hi i wanted to know people views on he caste system:

~~~~~~~~ Caste systems ~~~~~~~
*Do they really exist today?
*In this day and age is there any need or space for them?
*Purpose of the caste system
* Who still belives in them
Me personally i hate the caste system within the UK sikhs that exists because i feel theres no need for it and segregation. As far as i see everyone really still has similar standard of living and all really do same kind of jobs. So why do peopl have such a issue with it? maybe i just do not understand it. Especailly when it comes to marriages people sometimes create such a issue i just think 😕what difference does it make what people use to do back in india we have to live here .I would love to know about experiances all over especailly in india has well all sides 😃 so all views welcom
Oh yes they do.. didnt u hear of self-immolation and the reservation charade
*In this day and age is there any need or space for them?
I wouldnt think there is a need but still I think India is too far away for a brahmin to have lunch with the person or lady who collects her trash... We have that inbuild bigotry (I dont say its wrong).. I never consider castes as wrong... whoa dont i feel superior already....😊
*Purpose of the caste system
Hinduism had division of labor... in stone age... now its used for political agenda... still i am not comfortable with people of "lower" castes.. though i dont hate them....
* Who still belives in them
I do in so much as mentioned above. I wont go out of way to do anything for these awkwardness. But why are you getting sikhs in the caste system? I thought you are talking about the brahmin to janitors caste system😕
gd topic ninz!!!
1 - do they reeli exist today?
yes they do in some villages in India.. although i dnt think they do in towns and cities lyk mumbai.. it is mostly in old-fashioned villages (lyk the one shown in Swades) where ppl hav unequal opportunities and are less educated
2 - In this day and age, is there any need or space for them?
i dnt think they r needed nowadays - everyone is equal, bt their environment n circumstances n opportunities create differences between them n so ppl who hav better opportunities often suppress those that dnt...
3 -Purpose of the caste system
i was taught that it was used to categorise ppl depending on wt they did as a profession, e.g. brahmins were teachers or gurus (ryt..? or am i wrong.. 😕 ) and they wernt supposed to be passed down the generations because wt a father did cud hav bin completely different to wt a son did.... how the caste system is now thought of (ie discrimination) has developed because of the views of ppl, e.g. brahmins thought they wer superior to others because they wer thought to be knowledgable
4 - who still believes in them?
quite a few still do.. bt nt many i dnt think...
I am from an intercaste background...
my mom is brahmin convert to christian.. my dad is tamil christian nadar...and I have been to both sides of my relatives.. the way they look at you sometimes is weird especially my mom's relatives
caste system exists everywhere.. While originally it was meant to be based on the work culture, it has now become hereditary... it is pathetic..
once i was blatantly told..I was not a "PURE" nadar.. that was funny.. i gave those people a piece of my mind before leaving...
This world has got to go a long way before caste is eliminated
I dont believe is caste...
Hey Nina 😉
Sadly, caste systems do exist today. They're just not as obvious as they used to be! If people feel more comfortable spending time with people of their 'own' caste, that's perfectly alright. The problem starts when people begin to discriminate because of this caste system.
2 - In this day and age, is there any need or space for them?
i dnt think they r needed nowadays - everyone is equal, bt their environment n circumstances n opportunities create differences between them n so ppl who hav better opportunities often suppress those that dnt... thats true again....i think in uk more equal but people try to hold onto old values ...where has in india theres a big divide in circumstances meaning these castes still exist ...do not know about supressing but certainly no integration
3 -Purpose of the caste system
i was taught that it was used to categorise ppl depending on wt they did as a profession, e.g. brahmins were teachers or gurus (ryt..? or am i wrong.. 😕 ) and they wernt supposed to be passed down the generations because wt a father did cud hav bin completely different to wt a son did.... how the caste system is now thought of (ie discrimination) has developed because of the views of ppl, e.g. brahmins thought they wer superior to others because they wer thought to be knowledgable yeh thats what i was taught as well suppose to be what the generation did before job wise....i dont know if its developed or not..what i do know is how can people say they jatts for example if they never done farming in their lives 😕
4 - who still believes in them?
quite a few still do.. bt nt many i dnt think... umm maybe thats true think its dying out
