I have mixed feelings about this episode. It wasn't as good as we had hoped for, or as good as some the earlier ones, but it was far better than the crappy dump we have been served lately. At least, if you suspended logic and rationality, it was enjoyable.
I don't know yet if this sub-track will eventually find a place in my short list of older go-to episodes; that will depend on how the next few turn out. That said, here are a few comments and broodings, starting with general ones.General Comments:1. The CVs continue with their habit of dragging on boring depressing plots for weeks upon weeks, but anything even remotely exciting and enjoyable, and you'd think they don't have a few minutes to spare. The same happened here. This material should have been explored and presented more slowly and throughly, but they rushed through it.2. I think part of the general unstability comes from their original misjudgment about Mahachuchak, Nigar, and Khyber characters. With their usual lack of respect for the audience, they had worked out really childish characters with inconsistent story lines, and staked out a good chunk of the series on them. These characters were introduced with great fanfare---and the audiences hated what they were shown. People simply hated Mahachuchak, her minister, and her Kabul palace. Nigar who used to be mildly annoying as Shehnaz, became truly intolerable as her real self. You barely see either MCB or Nigar now.Similarly with Khyber's introduction and his artificially OTT inconsistent character: he was controlled by one man with a whip, but could trounce an entire army of heavily armed soldiers. In fact, people only warmed to him when he became a harmless hitchhiker with Jo and of course died with love that remained unrequited in this life.To make a long guess short, I think the producers had staked a lot on these characters and have been fumbling around trying to recover from their collapse. However, habits die hard, and they continue to drag on the empty boring junk and rush through anything interesting and exciting.Specifically about Thursday's episode:3. I don't understand why Saqina had to wait for the nikah in order to kill Jalal? She said she first wanted audha as begum, but then she also claimed that she is not married to Jalal anyway? 😕4. I was pleased that he called her badzaat! 😊5. When was there time to switch grooms and for Jalal to do all his make-up as a maulvi?6. As always, unbelievable exceptions continue to be made for Ashwini. Even today she was given so much screen time and space. Good actress, but favoritism towards her and her character became a liability for the show long ago and remains so.7. I have no idea why an idiot like Amanullah would think he can kill Jalal in a one-on-one battle? I mean, this guy is a small time hire, not some great warrior.8. MA's soldiers were so inept today that both MS and Tansen could simply shoo their captor's knives away and walk off? OK, MS is at least known as a formidable soldier which could have intimidated a small time sipahi, but Tansen, the singer?Finally...JA has forever changed the meaning of a few Hindi/Urdu words for me. Most people who know the normal meanings of these words will never understand why I become happy upon hearing badzaat or full of panic upon hearing nikah and jashn.😊
Completely agree with lines in bold.
CVs drag and drag and drag torture boring tracks but good happy stuff they just rush through.
They will not let us have even 2 episodes of sukoon for Jodha and Jalal 😡
I completely agree about MA and Ashwini. Her character is vicious - she is murderer of the worst kind who could kill Jalal's babies in the womb and SHE is given this glorious sendoff by CVs where she again gets to mouth crap like raised Jalal from baby.
I would have LOVED if instead of MA blurting it out - Jalal HAD uncovered her part in this.
