Jassi seems unable to take in what Ashmit is saying. She stares at him blankly.
He continues undaunted, his leering gaze fixed on her. "Jassi, you're so smart, so beautiful……tumhe dekhte hi mere hosh udd gaye the….I'm sure you like me too!"
He tried to grab her hand, but she snatches it away, horror and disgust mingling on her face.
"How dare you!"
Ashmit: Don't get me wrong Jassi…..main jaanta hun tum shaadi-shuda ho…main tumse koi relationship ki umeed nahin kar raha hun…lekin jab tak tum yahaan ho, tab tak….we can surely have some fun? I promise, main saari zameen weavers ke naam kar dunga!
Jassi gets up and faces him squarely. "Mr. Ashmit Singhania, mujhe pehle hi tumhare iraade jaan lene chahiye the….mere Armaan ne mujhe manaa bhi kiya tha, phir bhi main tumse milne aayi, soch kar ki shayad tumahri insaaniyat tumhe unn logon ka dard samajhne par majboor kar degi….but I was wrong! Tumhari khush kismati hai ki iss waqt Armaan yahaan nahin hai….warna wo tumhe zinda nahin chodta!"
She turns to go, but he sneers, "Ek maamoli si secretary Gulmohur ki owner ban gayi…aur apne boss se shaadi bhi kar li….don't tell me, yahaan tak pahunchne ke liye tumne koi "deals" nahin ki hogi? Main bhi toh sirf ek deal ki hi baat……"
She whirls around and slaps him hard. A steely glint comes into his eyes. He grabs her shoulders and tries to pull her towards him…but she slaps him again, throws him against the wall and rushes out of the front door….which is thankfully unlocked.
Ashmit gathers his wits almost immediately, and runs behind her.
Outside, the road is deserted. Not a vehicle is in sight. Jassi looks around desperately…and sees Ashmit running right behind her. In panic, she runs towards the little clump of trees in front of his house.
Armaan's taxi is at last approaching Kangra, albeit many hours behind its scheduled time. He impatiently takes out his phone and tries again to call Jassi. This time he can hear a ring, but nobody picks up the phone—because her phone is now lying on Ashmit's table, from where Jassi had no time to collect it in her mad rush to save herself.
He sulkily cuts the call and gazes out of the window. Just then the driver applies the brakes. Armu jumps and demands why the vehicle has stopped again. The driver indicates a herd of goats that is crossing the road. They have no choice but to wait. A vendor thrusts a pair of binoculars into the window. "Le lijiye na sa'ab….only 50 rupees…yahaan ke saare nazaare ekdum clear dikhenge…."
He seems about to refuse, but the seller is only a child, so he takes pity and buys the pair. The road is still blocked, so he steps out and walks over to the edge, using the binoculars to take in the scenery.
Suddenly he freezes. In the lens, he can see a woman running like the wind across a mountainside—and that woman is Jassi. He watches for a few moments, unable to believe his eyes. "Yeh toh Jassi hai….lekin wo iss haalat mein….wo aise kyun bhaag rahi hai?"
He grabs the driver and thrusts the lens at him. "Dekho….dekho uss pahaadi ko….wo yahaan se kitni door hai?"
Driver: Umm….zyada door nahin Sirji….bas, 10 minute aur lagenge yahaan se….
Armu: Toh phir mujhe wahaan le chalo….jaldi!
They get into the car, the road having cleared by now. Armaan mutters in panic, "Meri Jassi ko kuch nahin ho sakta…..kuch nahin ho sakta!"
Jassi is still running, now and then looking back to see if Ashmit is following her. She can't see him anymore, but the wind carries his voice to her: "Ruk jao Jassi!"
She runs further and further into the forest….and then, abruptly, she finds herself at the very edge of the mountain. Unable to keep her balance, she falls over, tumbling down the hillside…..and finally bangs against a tree, unconscious.
