Rajesh is crass apart!
Khera's character as the rude warden in 'Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii' has won him a positive feedback
Actor Rajesh Khera, popularly remembered as the gay designer Maddy in 'Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin', is these days basking in the appreciation he has received for playing the unkind and insensitive warden John Kakkad in the film 'Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii'.
Rajesh is visibly ecstatic about it.
He smiles as he says, "Yes, several people have appreciated my role. In fact, Parmeet (Sethi, actor) refuses to believe it is me. I had to develop an entirely new look for the character. I had black teeth and black nails. I wore a torn sweater and walked with a limp; and I had a hunchback too. The character had to look like a crass person. And to suit the character I even changed my voice. I am glad the effort has paid off. I only hope that there aren't many like Parmeet!"
Incidentally, Rajesh has mostly played negative characters. He shares, "I hardly get any offers for playing positive roles. The only positive role I played was in a serial called 'Patang' a few years ago which was telecast on Channel 9. Maybe, my shaven head and hard look don't make me look suitable for positive roles. But honestly, playing negative comes easily to me."
Ask him the basis for choosing roles, and he answers, "I like roles that portray me in a different light. When Ken (Ghosh, co-producer of the film) approached me for the role, I requested him that he should not waste me and utilise my potential to the fullest."
He adds, "I feel happy that my versatility has been accepted. I have portrayed myself as a devil for a leading electronics brand, and also played a smart witty South Indian for another adhesive ad. I had played Sardar in the film 'Tum Bin'."
Rajesh is now looking forward to the release of four films—'Brahm', 'Victoria No. 203', 'Speed' and 'Sirf'. He says, "I am playing cameos in these films; but they are vital to the story."
