| Rajeev Paul was in for a pleasant surprise when Contiloe Productions packed him off to visit Ahmednagar for their show Tic Tac Bag Pack. The show never actually happened, but Rajeev found he had unknowingly done an episode for another show where his flat in Malad got a makeover! Copping out! Rajeev merrily went to Ahmednagar with the crew and was put up at a guesthouse nearby. The shooting was to begin next morning. But when he woke up the next day, there was a lot of commotion below the place where he was staying. Says Rajeev, "I heard people screaming that a bank on the guesthouse's ground floor had been robbed. I went down to take a look at the situation and saw cops waiting at the bank's entrance. But when I tried to get a closer look, I felt somebody handcuffing me! Some members of the crew, who were standing beside me, were also man-handled by the cops," he says Rajeev then insisted that the cops get in touch with Contiloe Films to confirm that he was indeed the actor. "Initially, they did not believe me. They said they didn't know any actor by that name. After nearly two hours they finally said they had received a fax from Mumbai confirming my identity and let me go," he adds. New look It was at this point that Rajeev was told he had been made a bakra! He says, "The entire act had been staged. Basically, they wanted me to be occupied so that I could not talk to my wife Delnaz for a few hours." The reason? Delnaz was in hectic preparations for the makeover courtesy Nerolac Rang Jam De show (Zee). Rajeev came home the next day and his eyes almost popped out in surprise. He says, "The entire flat had been painted, with new chandeliers and new furniture too. It was then that I understood I had been deliberately kept away because they wanted to surprise me. The entire cops drama had me very nervous but the returns are worth it. Who doesn't want a new look in his house?" |
