On one hand you've got a film barely anyone has heard about, compared to Dhoom 3. Ritesh Batra, a debut director making it, starring Irrfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nimrat Kaur. Out of those 3, only Irrfan can be labelled as a "star" and that too with limited "star power."

The film was screened at Cannes 2013, and won the Critics Week Viewers Choice award. It had a 96% on RottenTomatoes, and both Rajeev Masand and Raja Sen have given it 5/5. It also won the Filmfare Best Film Critics award. In terms of box office, the film has done well, and according to Taran:

Weirdest POLL i have ever seen... 1 is Art House Best & Another full on commercial film? Voted for D3 as i can't ever have courage to watch Lunchbox, which is another art house sleep fest.

On the other hand you've got Dhoom 3, highest ever grosser in bollywood. Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif, enough said. Plus the whole Dhoom brand which was taken to another level after the success of Dhoom 2. It was a brainless film, but super entertaining, yet it has a 5.8/10 on imdb.

I haven't watched lunchbox.. But d3 sucked.. I am not watching any Yrf movie from now on.. Without reading a bunch of reviews..

Tbh both were overrated but in Lunchbox atleast the acting was good. With Dhoom3 i couldn't even sit through the whole movie.
