The only person Rudra connected with emotionally was Paro. He never really bonded with anyone not his father whom he cared for or his mother whom he longed for. He loved them but they never touched his soul or pulled his heartstrings the way Paro did. All the relationships he rebuilt were done through her guidance. It was she who helped him forgive his parents, to accept his extended family and open himself to love, trust and family. He never learnt to do it by himself. So after Paro's demise, he is lost again.
Today Rudra loves his son because he sees Paro in his face, his smile, his mannerisms. He tries to be a good father because its what Paro wanted. He is being guided by what Paro wanted for him and not he wants for himself. He is able to relax and talk about her to his son only when it is part of the plan like the rose scene but when he is caught unaware like the morning scene, he freezes. This because he is holding back his emotions and trying to stay strong for his son. That's why his parenting is not natural, he needs to make the effort.
For Maithili, it is easier because she always had the maternal streak in her. She always looks for ways to make others happy, more comfortable. So its easy for her to see the pointers that others miss. She is also someone who longed to be a mom and Paro wanted to share Dhruv with her. So she is the mom in the equation. The other person whom the child will turn to. The person who is creating a happy childhood for him.
