| Is 'Partner' a 'Hitch' rip off? |
| Just when we are about to believe that getting inspired from 'Hollywood' has become passe, Bollywood proves us wrong yet again! Recently released Emraan Hashmi starrer 'The Train' was based on Clive Owen, Jennifer Aniston starrer 'Derailed' and unfortunately the Bollywood version was so terrible that it even made its mediocre Hollywood predecessor seem like a masterpiece! David Dhawan's soon to be released romantic comedy 'Partner' has been creating waves of late, as it marks the comeback of hit pair 'Govinda and David Dhawan' that too along with our very own hot bod, Sallu! |
For those who haven't seen the Hollywood film, 'Hitch' revolves around a 'one of its kinds date guru' Alex 'Hitch' Hitchens (Will Smith), who customizes and orchestrates his client's (single men, desperately trying to woo the woman of their dreams) first three dates and ensures that the women accept his clients' wedding proposals! Everything is fine, until the woman (Eva Mendes) he himself falls for decides to expose his 'tricks of the trade' through her tabloid!
Sample this - Prem (Salman Khan) is a legendary Mumbai City 'date doctor', who helps men woo women they like and charges them for providing his service. Surprisingly his tricks do not work for Naina (Lara Dutta), one woman he truly loves. By the way 'coincidentally' Lara also works for a newspaper as a journalist, the way Eva does in Hitch! Meanwhile, Prem comes across Govinda, who is in love with Katrina Kaif, the daughter of a rich industrialist. Govinda becomes his client and the film then shows how Prem helps Govinda to get his lady love, simultaneously trying hard to get Naina for himself.
Arjun Rampal's 'I See You' was also based on Reese Witherspoon, Mark Ruffalo starrer 'Just Like Heaven'!
When our directors have the capability to make films like 'Page Three' and 'Life in a Metro', we wonder why we still feel the need to dig into heaps of American films to find our inspiration! We don't necessarily have to be 'Partners' of Hollywood, we can be better than them, Mr Dhawan…
