What did he mean by that?
Did he mean that he never loved Shagun?

Because he never affirmed her when Ishita said that "Like Shagun was his first love..."

I think he's realised What he felt for Shagun wasn't love because he was only always trying to please her. It was one sided and a compromise. With Ishita its different.

Nice topic. For a while even I was wondering what did he actually mean. And I am still not sure if he actually meant what I hv interpreted. But what all I could understand is that much against our expectations, Raman has actually been self-talking and self-analyzing all this while. It seems he is consciously very much in peace with the fact that for him Shagun is just the BIOLOGICAL mother of his two kids and nothing else. Its actly strange but somewhere internally he has been able to figure out the difference between his emotions for Shagun (whch were more of attraction and physical desire) and Ishu( the emotions of belongingness, love and care)

But Ishu has probably NOT even given these things a thought. She's plain complacent with the way her life is going. And one reason of this is also that unlike Shagun, Subbu never came to haunt Ishu time and again, sply since Raman came to her life.So I feel it was easier for Raman to figure out what he wants out of his relationship with Ishu(sply during the last track) jabki she never actually got a chance to see Subbu and Raman in the same frame.

So thats what probably RKB meant...for him Shagun is a closed chapter because he has seen Ishu and Shagun in one frame and realized what he wants outta life...and for him the only "maine" of dat lost love is dat woman is the mother of his kids BUT Ishu is still touchy wrt Subbu's memories which Raman cud easily see. And thats why the comment.

Maybe that is his way of portraying the fact that he has realized the difference between his feelings for Shagun and this unnamed relation with Ishita.

@Bold I completely agree on that. He was more inclined towards Shagun only for physical desire or in more raw words, Lust.
