I think he's come to realize that whatever he shared with Shagun was just an infatuation while he tried to maintain a one-sided relationship. His relationship with Ishita, even though still unnamed, is more of a two-sided relationship, with both parties trying to make an effort with each other.

Shagun is a closed chapter in his life; she got engaged in front of his eyes and he didn't even care (and didn't even get drunk over it). Subbu might be a different case for Ishu, hence his annoyance
