Rani no home-breaker, says family; quashes her engagement reports
Mumbai, June 20: Reports of Bollywood queen Rani Mukerjee getting engaged to scion of the Chopra empire Aditya Chopra were quashed by her family members here today.
The Mukherjees were appalled at the rumours making the rounds in Bollywood circles and media.
''Rani is not a home-breaker. She is not dating Aditya Chopra. If Adi is going through a rough patch in his marriage, that is his problem, not Rani's. She shouldn't be dragged into it,'' her family and friends said.
However, Yashraj Films spokesperson Monica Bhattacharya, while talking to UNI, dismissed the engagement news as a mere speculation, saying, ''It is all rubbish. There was no engagement or ''roka'' ceremony the Chopra bunglaow.'' Refusing to make any comments, she said, ''It is their personal life and it would not be right on anybody's part to comment on it.'' Rumours of romance between the bong actress and the producer took a leap further when news of the pair getting engaged was reported in media yesterday.
According to sources, the divorce of Aditya Chopra with his wife for six years Payal Khanna has yet to come through.
The divorce will be granted anytime now. Aditya had apparently shifted out of his bungalow and was staying in a five star hotel.
Sources also say the Chopras, who were unhappy about the divorce, have bought a flat worth Rs three and a half crore for Payal Khanna as part of the hefty alimony.
Incidentally, Rani has been very close to Aditya and his family for a long time now. She has also done several of her successful films like 'Veer Zaara', 'Bunty Aur Babli' and 'Hum Tum' with Yashraj Films.
