I think you're taking it all way too seriously! It's a fiction, and should be considered one. Baa's is a negative character with stereotypical mentality, and she believes only family and reputation is all that matters. She must remember it's not one's reputation but character (as has been said by the Wise) that matters. Though I agree with Phalguni's statement about Baa's narrow-mentality. Baa's a character who I find fun to watch, albeit not being too fond of her.

She is nt dat evil, all she wants is dat things must b done in her way. if she wants Ishaani to get marry to her choice den it wil b sum1 4rm a village or servants nt sum1 wit a reputed family

She is essentially wicked. She leaves no stone unturned to humiliate Ishani & is trying to create rift between Ishani & Disha. Her hatred towards Ishani irkes me the most.

I somewhat agree with you that baa is strict, she has a very outdated and stereotypical thinking but for a character like her its needed
Her character is shown as a lady who believes in mainting the izzat for her family so can do anything for it. 😃

Her nagativity creates lots of drama and masala. That is why she is there. She portrayed a very soulful mother in Baa Bahu Beti. She is quite dramatic.
