Karan Johar's usage of the word 'retarded'

I've heard Karan Johar on more than one occasion say the phrase "are you retarded?", he said it on Comedy Nights with Kapil recently.

Does this numbnut not realise just how offensive the word is?, is there no concept of political correctness over there?, you would think a so called english-speaking "elite" like himself would know better, but he is just another moron, not that it wasn't already firmly established.

I don't think its offensive, lots of people here in the west use this word quite freely. Even in my school ive heard people use the word.

When you're on TV, there are certain words you should avoid saying, you have a responsibility with the way you express yourself, people may use many offensive words in real life, but saying such stuff on tv would get you in trouble in the west.

Anyone, and everyone who uses the word "retarded" as part of their dictionary needs to stop. It's wrong and offensive on every level. Sadly, it especially gets highlighted minimally in the west.

Isn't it only termed as being sensitive in the west? Doubt desis care, in fact desis back home doing even recognize the disorder, they just call kids that are clinically 'retarded' as 'pagal'.

I don't think its dignified to use the word 'retarded' on a normal basis. There's actually a mental illness associated, I think called mental retardation. Individuals actually suffer from it and hence this term can be misused and misinterpreted when used on a regular basis.
