Although, almost all the aspects of this show are quite annoying now, Bhide is the only character I love. May be it is the actor's ability to do it rather easily that Bhide seems to be a real person. Now, one would claim that for Dilip joshi as well. I must say Joshi is also a brilliant actor but lets for once talk about the characters. I am not talking about being funny or unfunny .I don't find the character of Jethalal close to reality and I have my reasons.
Essay writing in school reminds of of a very important topic,'Aim in life'. Atleast 3 out of 5 children would claim to become teachers in their life. Interestingly, by the time they clear their board exams their aim in life become more practical. Say medical or engineering where the returns are assured. Education system as a whole depends on those people who either are too keen about the role of education or who cannot do anything except being a teacher. Bhide reminds of of the second kind of people. He is at times jealous of Jetha that without education he is living a better life. Thus, he is more paranoid about his techniques of teaching. Obsessed with it he mixes up the role of a father, teacher and the secretary of the society. A secretary is not suppose to cancel holi programs following the school examination schedule. He can ask his pupils to keep away or his daughter to concentrate on her studies. He does none. He rather cancels the holi programme in one go. When Sonu's progress report turned out to be negative it disappointed him so much that he returned home with his daugher and wife leaving every one behind. Was he actually disappointed or was his ego hurt ?
Its not that he is not a good teacher but what makes him go after lottery tickets or set up a small business during the mango season ? Why is there an urge to do something different than what he is already doing? He dreams of wining the ticket and showing off all his wealth to his fellow gokuldhamwasis. Why is there any such need ? He believes in 'Shiksha jeevan ka aadhar hai' and he has that. He believes that in first place or wants others to believe that he believes in this philosophy ? Interestingly, he doesn't want any favour from anyone, specially the Gadas. He went ahead to pay for the 'dal' Daya had shared with Madhavi but he is the one who goes ahead to ask for Rs 100000 during that lottery scam. Hmm.. so not asking for help doesn't apply everytime ?
Bhide would also say great stories of his 'Zamana'. If a man is great, it will speak on its own and people from every nook and corner will sing the greatness of a man.'Apne muh miya mittho' has no value but Bhide will sing the glory of his past. This is actually interesting aspect of this character
Tappu sells his scooter and indeed he ws hurt. He leave no stone un turned to find that scooter. His scooter is everything for him but later sells it on his own. Now, was he actually annoyed because his scooter was sold or was he annoyed because Tappu sold it ?
Once proven wrong either by his wife or anyone else, this man has no reluctance in accepting it. He does it without any effort. He is sorry and he says it. This makes him an adorable person to be with. He also is childish when he resigns from his post and needs to go the lallan jee way( lapataganj) " Hum se kisi ne kaha hi nahi". Its not difficult anywys. Just ask him to take the place of the secretary and it is done within a fraction of second but yes, he will take that oath before he joins again. He doesn't break any rule.
Our master ji is an ordinary person in and out. Such people are easily available. Interestingly, he gets carried away rather easily. Be it party sharty or bhoot ka darr, Masterji cannot stick to his idealogy for long. Thus, Bhide in my opinion is the most real character in the show. I love this man like anything.
