Every shows have its own fan base. Each and every show come with lots of expectation on which some attracts view balls and some fails, also every team is doing their own handwork for the best result not only RR team.
In this forum, always blame Indian audience. This audience are watching so many shows in different channels daily so they well aware about the content and uniqueness of stories and its execution than so called random and fandom viewers.
Random viewers feel their show is unique but regular viewers of many serials know that how much uniqueness in cut paste copy.
About male oriented serials, Madhubala - 1 was pure male oriented serial from ST and it was a huge success till its male leads' character butchers by ST himself.After all it had 2+ trp till its last breath in the February 2014.It had no role to saas other than standing as statue more time. All dialogues and action handled with male lead.It has reached in the position of first 3 shows in trp chart of whole GEC channels. It is best example for the success of a male oriented show.
SP show ek haseena thi has 2+ trp which is different from all angle.
SP 6 pm show is actually male focused show where main culprit is a man.
The same go with QH and Jodha Akbar of zee tv where male lead has more importance. SI's SP show was also successful where male lead has role and zero kitchen politics.
besides this all historical serials, Hatim of Life OK which is a fairy tale show and pure male oriented and far different from general taste have good trps😆. In colors itself, 24 serial of Anil Kapoor had TRP than RR😆
I hope AB serial Yudh will have more trp than RR.
Hence if content and execution is good along with some uniqueness its own, then any show will be successful.Best example is Hatim in life oK.
So do not blame Indian audience taste, blame the RR show and its story n execution. If content and execution is good then they will watch it. So RR is failure on execution and delivery base.
Most of its viewers r fan group of SI ( thanks to SP show for that )and remains male lead. Chanchan of sony was also hit in the online, but lose to sony and ran hardly 6 months in a channel where almost all shows have .5 trp ranges. CC did not attain .5 trp also, was good followers in online only bcoz of fan group.
So if you want to blame some body for RR failure, then blame the creative team not Indian audience for not accepting RR as for them it is offering nothing uniqueness. Arny background and terrorism has come before also and gained trp more than RR😆.

RR failure responsibly utterly goes to its creative team including ST himself and its way of story telling and its execution.
