I am from Andhra Pradesh and here even when a girl has elder brother of 7-8 years, families try and get girl child married first, its bcoz if the boy in the family gets married first he may not be able to fulfill his responsibilities as a bro - on having his own family, hence girls get married first and its not just in South India, even in the North its mostly similar

usually girls are marriex first(if they r above 18) eventhough they hav elder boys in family...so that they can relief as if she is a burden to the family...

we are not burden unless all we do is sit around and spend money, which I think even some boys do that. The guy my parents used want me to marry used to sleep at work if workload is less, i stay late to finish my work and help others, so who is more responsible? i would never be able to depend on him if we married😆
