"The rain has approached ohhh my dear lover
The soil is getting drenched in inadvertent shower
Listen to the tune melting in our heart
And let's get lost on the unknown way...
All alone...Together!!"
"Ajji inn sab ki kya zarurat thi. Main aise hi thik thi.." I said looking towards the mirror. I couldn't literally recognize myself in that Maharastrian Nauvari and heavy ornaments. Generally I prefered simple and sophisticated look but ajji was not at all ready to leave me. "Kyun re. Ekdin jyada saj dhaj liya too kya budhii ho jayegi meri tarah.." Ajji looked at me rolling her eyes. "Ajji... mujhe inn heavy ornaments ki adat nahin hain,.. kitne kimti gahene hain... agar kuch ho gaya too?!" I said worriedly. "Antara!!..." Ajji said, "Teri saheli ki shadi hain aur tu aise jayegi?! Kya sochegi tere barein meim?!! Ki meri saheli meri shadi mein ayii woo bhi sade kapro mein..." she pouted like a little girl. She was always like that. Childish, chirpy, bubbly! "Thik hain naa ajji.. main too apne salwar suit le ke ayi thi..." I said. "Baad mein pahen lena agar itna hi shauk hain too... main dekh loongi..." ajji said frowning and as usual keeping her hands on her waist. "Aap se koi nahin jeet sakta.." I said giggling. "Chal chal ab jyada maska mat maar... pata nahin yee falguni kidhar rahe gayi... ussey too mooh mein powder lagane mein hi time chala jata hain..." Ajji said. "Hey I am here..." I heard falguni's chirpy voice and looked towards the door. She was standing there fully dressed up in a beautiful nauvvari. "Ohh my God!!" falguni's eyes were about to pop out from its holes. "Hey falguni what happened?!!" I asked with a confused smile. "Wow... ajji u are genius. Kashmir ki kali koo total Marathi mulgi bana di... aur banaya bhi too kya ek dum patakha lag rahi hain... god antu u are looking awesome blossom dhamakedaar zaykeedaar... Ruk aur bhi muhabara yaad karne de.." Falguni said giving me a tight hug almost making me suffocate. "Falgini... I am chicking!!" I somehow managed to say. "Ufsss.. sorry yaar..." she left me and both of us giggled. "Chalo hoo gaya tum dono kaa... aaab chalo..." ajji said.
"Eee... Ajji... EE falguni!!..." suddenly a loud harsh voice came all along hitting the walls of the house and banged on my ear. Uff not again!! I sighed to hold my annoyance. Just after some next moment he rushed inside the room fully ready in green three quarter sleeve shirt and as usual his navy jeans with leather jacket and his red scarf. My eyes widened a bit looking at his get up. "God!! don't tell me he is also going with us?!!" the thought instantly came in my mind. "Aa rahi hoon bhai... itna chillate kyun hoo.." falguni said with annoyance. He still didn't notice me in room. "Arey tere thobre par lepa pooto ho gayi hoo too chal yaar... niche khare khare apun ki dono tange soojh gayi hain.. abtoo bas..." at that instant his eyes fell on mine. I looked towards him normally. His blabber stopped all of a sudden. Something odd happened to him which I couldn't describe. As if seemed like his breath stopped. Did he developed respiratory problem all of a sudden?! Huh!! Who cared?!! My eyes fell on his black orbs. They were just so deep and unreadable for me all the time. He was like a hard stone whom no one could crack. His silent eyes were all fixed to mine. I was definite that he was again going to make some weird comment on me like always. As if I care. To my surprise the jeep's key which he was holding in his hand dropped all of a sudden and rolled on the floor stopping abruptly near my feet. I looked towards those keys with confusion and again looked up to c his. And I might be wrong but for the first time I saw some amusement and tenderness in his hard gaze.
"Oyee... raghu... chintuuu!!!..." ajji called loudly from side. Raghu suddenly jerked out and looked towards three of us oddly. He shook his head like he was trying to shove away something. "Arey ajji aisi chillati kyun hoo?!! S**a kaan ke parde fat jaa raha hain.." Raghu said in annoyance. "So here starts his irritating blabber." I said in mind and sighed. "Ar kya karta?!! Kab se chillaye jaa rahi hoon.. ab der nahin ho rahi hain kya?!" ajji said. "Arey apun ttoo kab se khare khare woo aasmaan ke tare gin rahe hain... aaabhi niklo tum dono..." raghu just said in his usual irritating tone. Till the time I met him I never saw him talking a bit sweetly to anyone. "Woo kahete hain naa... zuban khole too goli nikle..." the word is so appropriate for raghu. I didn't even understand sometimes what he was blabbering. I saw ajji and falguni giggling weirdly. "Now what happened to them?!" I thought in mind. "thik hain re yede, abb chup ho jaa.. waisey ek baat bata aaj antara kaisi dikh rahi hain?!" ajji asked all of a sudden. I was startled a bit. "Kaun yee?!! Arey iske barein mein kya kahoon ajji... Itna chamak rahi hain itna chamak rahi hain... abb lagta hain kii wedding hall ke sara light ka kaam yahin kar de... pahele bata deta naa too suresh bhai koo itne rupaiyee kharach kar ke light lagani nahin parti..." he made a face. as usual his mocked answer and I sighed. I didn't know why did ajji asked him! Did he really thought that he was going to give me any proper compliment. Impossible in every sense! "Chintu!!..." ajji said rolling her eyes. "arey ankh kyun dikha ta hain ajji... yee misscall.. itna chamkili kyun ban rahi hain.. haan?!" that time he asked direvtky towards me. I looked towards him for a while with silent gaze. I picked up the key and moved closer to him keeping my firm gaze on his slightly confused face. I lifted the key to his eyes level and he spread his hand silently. I didn't know why his eyes were pasted to my face all the time. Something's must be cooking on his mind. I dropped the key in his hand and said with normal yet firm tone, "Agar itni problem hain too sun glass pahen lo na.. koi chaamak dikhayi nahi dega.." .
"Hayee..." his face made a big O and I stood there keeping my normal face intact. I heard falguni and ajji's laughter from behind. Raghu scratched his head and left the room in irritation. "oye hoye antu... tune too sidhe clean bold kar diya bhai koo..." falguni rushed towards me and hugged me sidewise. "Shut up yaar.. are u really out of your mind?! Why are you taking your akru big brother along with us?!" I said making annoyed face. "Arey antu samjha kar yaar.. kitna door jana hain humein... Rates mein woo jungle wala highway bhi hain... hum akele par jate naa.." falguni said. "I understand yaar. But couldn't you get anyone rather than him. God now he is going to eat up pour brain all the way." I pouted angrily while moving towards door with falguni. She just giggled like all time. "Now what is so funny about this. God!! I shouldn't decide to go along with you falguni. It would be better if I caught the bus. Sidhe wedding hall ke pass hi utar deta..U insisted me to come so that's why I have to face him all the way!!" I said. "If I won't convince you I am sure bhai wold kill me..." she murmured. "Hahhh!!!" I twitched my neck to her in surprise. "no no... I mean... how can I leave u all alone.." falguni bit her tongue. "Abey eee... kachwe ki tang laga liya hain kya... Niche ane mein raar nikal jayegi too bola pun idhar hi soo jata hain..." raghu irritating scream reached us. "God!!" I shut my eyes in irritation and moved down.
Falguni and me were best friend from the very first day when I came to Mumbai from Kashmir to join medical college. In fact she was the first girl in our class who talked to me and made me feel better. She was such a darling. Always ready to help others. I made so many friends in my medical collage but falguni was always so special to me. As the time passed our bond became stronger. I came to know that apart from her parents, she had a elder brother and her granny aka ajji in her house. After the first semester got over and at the mid of 2nd semester I first time visited her house from my hostel. That was the first time I saw raghu. Literally, I was blown off by the thought that he was actually the elder brother of my sweet friend falguni. He was literally... whom we called a GUNDA!! I still remembered how all alone he was fighting with those ten men all alone. The way he was dragging that man who was three times thicker than him, in his tight hold and how in one shot he twitched his hand making his scream in pain, I literally cringed seeing the scene and listening to the sound of bone cracking and that poor man's scream! Falguni dragged me out of the place and when she informed that he was none other than her elder brother raghu I literally felt a huge shock. I turned back and saw his hard determined face and burning eyes which was fixed to those lads who was surrounding him. true to say, all of them seemed nothing to him at that moment. I met falguni's ajji. She was such a sweet lady. She had so much care concern and warmness. With a little smile she caught your heart instantly. I was talking to ajji when I saw raghu entering in ajji's room drenched allover in sweat. Surprisingly there was not a single scratch on his body. "Kyun aa gaya tera haddi addi tor ne ka kaam khatam karke.." ajji said making a face. "kya yaar ajji... Woo shetty fir se aayya tha... lagta hain takle koo apun ki maar khaye bina din suru karne ki adat nahin hain..." he jerked his head to shove away his sweats and then his eyes fell on me. He became steal for a moment. With his deep black penetrating eyes he observed my face. As I saw him the scene flashed in my mind. The scream of that guy flashed in my mind and I literally shook badly. I quickly looked away from him with a gasp. I didn't dare to look at his face again. Still somehow I didn't know how I felt like he was still observing me thoroughly and very minutely. I was feeling uncanny for the first time. "yee antara hain.. falguni ki collage ki saheli.."ajji introduced me. "hmmm!!..." his voice roamed on my ear. Still I didn't look towards him. He was a gunda and I should keep distance from him.
That was the very first encounter of raghu and me and after that so many things happened which I didn't want to remind.
The wedding was really good. Me and falguni enjoyed it a lot. As the night got darker I decided to go back to hostel. So I said falguni goodbye. "Antu... aaj humare sath ghar mein chal naa... waisey bhi bahut raat hoo gayi hain, aaj raat wohi rahele aur kaal hostel cchali jana!" falguni said. "nahin yaar... meri roommate ghar gayi huin hain... room mein main akeli hoon... thik se lock bhi nahin kar payi... I hav to go yaar..." I said falguni. "Okk acha ruk... main bhai koo kaheti hoon kii woo tujhe drop kar dega..." falguni said. What?!! Raghu?!!! NO!!! A very big NOOO!!!!
"arey nahin nahin falguni.. I will manage...tumhare bhai koo kyun takleef deti hoo... waisey bhi unhe kitna sara kaam hain... hain naa... I am going bye..." without giving her any further chance I literally rushed out of the wedding hall. I was not gonna take any help from that akru. Stupid, arrogant, brat!! I was not out of mind that I would go alone in late night with a gunda type guy like him. I knew that whatever raghu was, he was not a looser but I was not going to face his annoyed face and poisonous blabbers for all the way for the sake of my safety.
The road was totally empty as it was so late at night. Even the cloud has covered the sky and I couldn't see the thunder flashes which are flashing near the pitch black horizon sky.
"Lagta hain tufan aney wala hain..." I mumbled worriedly. God, how could I manage to go all alone back to home? There was not a single ride and vehicle on the road and if the storm approaches somehow before I return to my hostel then I have to spend the whole night on the road?! I should listen to Falguni's word. But there was no way that I would get help from that guy!
"Just let it go... whatever happens I will manage..." I mumbled again and step on the road leaving the footpath.
A sound of big horn approached breaking the silence and I turned back. Immediately a jeep approached near me and stopped. My eyes widened a bit as I faced his very annoyed frown.
"Gari mein baith..." raghu's firm voice hit my ear.
"No thanks... maine kahan naa main khud manage kar lungi..." I said with annoyance and moved back to the road. But the annoying sound of horn again stopped my feet.
"Kya hain?!!" I turned back and ask with clear glint of irritation in my face and voice.
"Free mein lift de raha hoon.. paise nahin chahiye..." he made his annoyed face again. He was rude and no one could deny that. I wondered, what just happened that he came to help me all of a sudden.
"Paise ki baat nahin hain mujhe tumhare sath jana hi nahin hain..." I said clearly in hoping that he would leave me after that. I moved forward but at the next moment he drove his jeep parking that in front of me, blocking my way. I looked angrily towards him. "Dekh misscall!! Apun akhri baar kahe raha hain.. baith gari mein.. warna tuu achi tarah se jaanti hain ki apun lya cheez hain aur kya kar sakta hain.." his cold tone was totally full of warning. "And u expect ki tumhari dhamki o se main dar jaungi?!! Kabhi nahin.." I said without any mode to surrender. Raghu huffed a bit and scratched his head in frustration. "Misscall!! Dekh bakhera karne naii ayya hain aoun idhar.. Falguni koo teri chinta ho rahi thi... too ussne kahan ki apun tujeh chor de... dekh raste mein jungle parta hain.. sunsan hain ekdum.. pata nahin kab kya hoo jayein.. tere safety ke liye kahe raha hoon aur kuch naii..." his voice seemed a bit generous than before. I thought for a bit. He was right. The road was really empty and without a single life. I couldn't go back just walking. So the only option left for me was raghu and his car. Without a single agreement from my mind and heart, I literally forced myself inside the jeep and locked the seat belt around me. Without wasting a moment, raghu started the engine and the jeep speed along the road. I closed my eyes leaning on the seat without making a single effort to make conversation with him. But strange, why I always feel that when he was near? I felt like he was watching me all the time. But why should he?! I slowly opened my eyes and looked towards him. his eyes were as usual on road. But it really seemed like his eyes were moving impatiently hear and there trying to avoid my gaze. whatever!! I again closed my eyes and felt the wind turning faster. The storm was not so far and I could even here the light sound of thunders. I sensed the smell of soil, leaf and grass and understood that we entered in the forest area situated beside the highway.
Suddenly I heard a huge sound of machinery cracking and at the next moment our car stopped. I opened my eyes in a jerk. I smelled the diesels rusty smell and saw the smoke coming out from engine. Me and raghu looked towards each other in confusion.
"Kya huya?!!" I asked.
"pata naii... ruk tuu idhar... dekh ta hain apun..." raghu said and jumped out of the jeep. Opening the bonnet he checked for a while and then kicked on the road in irritation.
"S**a!!! iska too engine hi bigar gaya hain!!" he said in irritating voice.
"WHAT!!!!??" before the shock got over two drops of water fell on both of us. We rubbed our chicks in confusion and looked above. And at the next moment the several drop of tender water needles fell on us drenching us allover along with earth.
needed more two to three updates to finish the complete story.. don't worry it's not gonna be a longer one. it's just aa story of a rainy night and rantara😉
