Abhi has entered into this marriage for one year or so Tannu and Aliya think. Tannu is of the opinion that after a year, the fake or coerced marriage between Pragya and Abhi will be over and she can have Abhi to herself all over again. Aliya is under the misconception that within this year Abhi will teach/punish Pragya for stealing Purab from her, & at the end of the year Purab will be hers, and her brother will be free of this chashmish, this behenji.

Abhi, however, doesn't seem to believe this marriage is going to be short lived. Subconsciously, every threat he makes to Pragya about punishing her talks about a life sentence, a life full of tears, a life wedded to a husband such as him. Even if he doesn't want to let on to Pragya that this marriage is only for a year, his unconscious thoughts even today about God tying her to a man such as him for life always bespeaks that Abhi for all his arrogance (gamand) and modern thinking is still a simple, middle class guy at heart. If he cannot tell his daadi now about the reason why he married Pragya, how is he going to have the guts to face his daadi in a year? Is this the reason he thinks he as well as Pragya are doomed to a life time together? Be it what may, Abhi has no intention of breaking up with Pragya any time soon or anytime later.

I wish Pragya had pulled Abhi's ear today in front of the family, he did ask for it.

Great observation! I think Abhi is sort of thinking in both ways at once. Consciously, he knows it's all a plan, he's staying involved with Tannu, he has no intention of keeping Pragya in his life forever. And yet at the same time, when he thinks of her supposed sins, he thinks of punishing her forever...he's not making the connection, or else he's ignoring the connection, that that means keeping her in his life forever.

Anyway I think you already put it perfectly, especially about his thinking and his heart. 👏

Thank you, Mina :) Abhi talks to Tannu about hating Pragya, not liking her, etc but has never mentioned to Tannu after his marriage that he is going to break up with Pragya in a year, not even to calm down Tannu's fears of his being attracted to Pragya.

Even I have been thinking why he calls it a lifetime torture! I thought he means to say that he will make her suffer so much in a year that she will suffer for a whole lifetime! But I guess with today's apology, his version of torture is to go downhill and his own torture of loving a woman whom he is supposed to hate is to begin.
As far as Daadi I thought he will expose Pragya and who would want to have a gold digger daughter in law in the house anyway?

But like you said even he knows subconsciously that she is his woman. He had known it even before marriage when they met on Allah warias.

Tia, for all his new found wealth and new found greatness, he is a simple guy at heart. He is being an idiot and Pragya not reacting with tears or hurt until now has perhaps kept him going. She has given him tit for tat so far so this sudden subsiding into tears on her part stopped him short. Hope his gentle, caring side awakens and he tones down his verbal "hatred" of her even if he continues to despise her for supposedly marrying him for his money.

I liked that he explained why he had talked badly of the sweater NOT 'cos it was inexpensive but 'cos he thought Pragya had made it not her mother. Would like a scene where he wears the sweater voluntarily to keep out the cold of Simla.

Edit: I am so glad that Abhi explained it how he is doing what he is doing on purpose. It also explains why all his previous torture lines were so over the top and made up.

Paired with a pair of sunglasses and maybe a winter hat, it'll make a great disguise. No one will expect Rockstar Abhi in that sweater 😆

That is what I liked too that he explained his behavior. He is constantly doing that too, almost like he is justifying his behavior to himself as much as to her. He is already a goner.
