CID Written Update: Shahi Talwar Ki Chori (28th June, 2014)

Scene 1

We see a couple driving at night, listening to updates about the FIFA World Cup on the radio. Suddenly, their car along with all other vehicles in the vicinity come to a halt inexplicably. There are electric noises and the streetlights go out as well. Heavy wind starts blowing and the people start screaming their heads off.

Scene 2

2 days earlier in the bureau, Abhijeet sir receives a call from one Mahesh saying his son Rohit has been missing since the previous night.

Scene 3

Daya sir, Freddy sir and the others visit Mahesh's house. Mahesh explains that they had went to some relative's place that night at 9:00 PM and Rohit stayed back in the house, but was missing when they came back the next morning at 9:00 AM. A lady Neelam there who apparently had been appointed to take care of Rohit in the parents' absence, says Rohit had been in his room until 12:00 AM when she went to sleep. She says she heard no suspicious sounds whatsoever. They check Rohit's room and discover that Rohit was a big fan of the Maharana Pratap show and also adventure sports. Daya sir finds open a window which was supposed to be locked at night, and deduces the abductor took Rohit from there.

He finds a metal hook near the sill and on searching outside, Freddy sir finds shoeprints of size 5-6 on the pavement, likely Rohit's. He also finds the shoeprint in a pot beneath the window and says Rohit must've jumped down from there. They find a 100 rupee note marked "R" nearby. Mahesh is surprised saying it's his lucky note which he used to keep under lock. Daya sir says Rohit seems to have run away by himself, since there's no evidence of anybody having broken into the room from outside. He says Rohit might've used the hook to let himself down from the window. One of Rohit's friends there says Rohit liked to roam around alone and he had once seen him go to an old castle. Daya sir says he could've went there now too.

Scene 4

Sachin, Freddy sir and others visit a forest near the castle area and find a treehouse there, which Rohit apparently built for himself. They find signs of struggle there and deduce he must've been abducted. They find several books about Maharana Pratap inside. Sachin notices that in one of the books, Rohit marked with a tick the page about Maharana Pratap's sword. He recalls reading that the Maharana's ancient sword is going to be housed at one Jima (?) museum in the city. He decides to pay the museum a visit.

Scene 5

The team arrives at the museum only to find that some robbers have stolen the Maharana's sword and gotten away. They call an ambulance for the injured security guard, who points at one of the robbers he shot dead. Nikhil finds a password-protected mobile phone on his body and Kavin tells him to have it cracked by a hacker. He says Rohit might've heard the robbers' plans in his treehouse and thus they abducted him. They also find some white powder in the dead robber's hair and decide to get it examined.

Scene 6

Nikhil enters the bureau saying he's supplied Rohit's photo to all police checkposts and offices. Abhijeet sir tells him to do the same regarding the Maharana's sword. Freddy sir obtains a list of wealthy people with an interest in priceless antiques, who could've been after the sword. Abhijeet sir asks him to keep an eye on all of their activities. One of the new cops says the last call on the slain robber's phone is from Hiranagar. Dr. Salunkhe enters and informs that the white powder found on his hair is marble dust. Abhijeet sir decides to check up all marble shops in Hiranagar.

Scene 7

Daya sir, Freddy sir and the others visit a suspiciously vacant marble godown and enter a house there, which is in shambles. They search the place and Daya sir finds a half-burned paper in the trash bin, which has a name and some numbers obscured. The name seems to read "Ranbeer". Daya sir remembers this name in the list of wealthy men interested in antiques.

Scene 8

Daya sir and the team meets Ranbeer, who behaves arrogantly and says he's innocent. He gets nervous on learning about the half-burnt letter with his name. He admits that he considered the sword to be a family heirloom and had received a call asking if he's interested in buying it. He had agreed and the deal is scheduled to take place at one Hotel Blue Desert that evening.

Scene 9

Daya sir and Nikhil, disguised as Ranbeer and his servant "Deemakram" 🤣 respectively, enter the hotel room where the shady deal is going to take place, and start bargaining (truly crisp and apt performance by Daya sir here 👏). Eventually, once the sword is brought forth, they capture the thugs before they can escape, and Daya sir hands their leader a tight SLAP (tm).

Scene 10

In the bureau, Abhijeet and Freddy sirs try to get the leader blab about Rohit's whereabouts and whom he works for. Dr. Salunkhe enters and informs that the sword they took from the thugs is a fake. The leader confesses he knew the truth about it, and is forced to reveal who made him do it.

Scene 11

We see Rohit imprisoned in a room. A thug enters with food and on pretext of begging to be released, Rohit manages to nick his pen. He removes its refill and uses it to push out the key from the other side, pull it in using a newspaper and manages to unlock the door. As he moves out, he hears pleas for help coming from another room and finds a man tied up there. He frees him, and the man says he committed a big mistake and there'll be dire consequences unless he fixes it. Since the front doors are guarded, they plan to escape from the window using blankets for ropes.

Scene 12

The team meets the museum owner, who's forced to confess that he had himself stolen the real sword, but insists that he has nothing to do with the robbery or Rohit's kidnapping. Kavin says since the robbers knew the sword was a fake, they were after something else. They check the CCTV footage of the robbery. Just before one of the robbers shoots out the camera, they see one of them moving towards the science section. They go there and Kavin sees a bloodstain near an electromagnetic pulse device by one Dr. Girish. Nikhil notices it too has been swapped for a fake (that was quick). The museum owner says there's nothing special about the device, and the late scientist's son Nitin had it delivered to the museum. Kavin asks for Nitin's address.

Scene 13

Daya sir, Freddy sir and others break into Nitin's house and find the place in shambles. Nitin is nowhere to be found inside, and they construe Nitin was kidnapped to help the culprits learn how to use the device. Daya sir receives a call from Abhijeet sir (yay! 😃 ) to check a certain news channel. They check it and see a recording of a man hidden in shadows gloating that soon the entire country will be destroyed. Suddenly, Daya sir gets a call from Rohit asking for help and saying he seems to be somewhere in Shyamnagar. Suddenly, the phone is jammed and the power supply in the entire locality disrupted. Freddy sir fears how they'll get to Shyamnagar on time. Daya sir says they need to somehow contact Abhijeet sir and tell him to get there.

Scene 14

We see Rohit and the man Nitin sitting together in a dark shopping lot. They hear frenzied voices outside and Nitin says the people will soon start killing each other. He adds that half the city's power supply, electronic devices and vehicles have been ravaged due to an electromagnetic pulse. He blames himself for what's happening. Rohit encourages him. They hear voices of the thugs looking for them. Nitin advises Rohit to run and save himself, but the latter refuses to desert him. He finds some fireworks on the shelf and gets an idea.

Scene 15

The team moves on a dark road and plan to find Nitin and Rohit, and destroy the EMP device. They see flares over a building ahead and, guessing it's Rohit giving out a signal to them, rush there. (What a quick deduction.)

Scene 16

The thugs catch Rohit and Nitin in the store, but the CID arrives on time to save them. Rohit is taken home. The thugs are questioned hard but insist they know nothing. Nitin reveals their boss had forced him to create an EMP device which he intends to use for wreaking havoc in the country. He says he's only heard the boss' voice. Kavin gets a call from Abhijeet sir and updates him.

Scene 17

We see technicians working hard at an airport control room to help three incoming flights land safely before it's too late. Suddenly, the power goes out and they fret that a terrible accident is going to take place now. They have no means of sending out radio messages or knowing where exactly the predicted crashes will take place. They pray for the innocent passengers in grave danger now.

Scene 18

Nitin leads Abhijeet sir, Freddy sir, Sachin and the others into the room where he was held and forced to build the EMP device. They're ambushed by some guards, kill them in battle and move ahead into the control room, where we see the gang leader is none other than the lead security guard from the museum, Vinod. Seeing them approach, he quickly launches a missile to destroy all of the country's satellites. He gloats only he knows how to stop it, and tries to commit suicide and knocks himself out in the struggle. Nitin tries to work on the controls and decides that having the missile self-destruct is the safest way to go. The computer asks for a password, which proves to be elusive. At the eleventh hour, Abhijeet sir finds in Vinod's pocket a photo of himself and his son Shekhar - the latter turns out to be the correct password, and they succeed in destroying the missile. Abhijeet sis receives info about the airplanes in danger, and says they need to restore power at the air traffic control immediately, somehow.

Scene 19

At the control room, the scientists' leader asks them to vacate it as any of the planes can crash into the tower at any moment, but they refuse to desert their posts. At this point, the power comes back. They manage to have the aircrafts safely landed and jubiliate at the achievement.

Scene 20

In the bureau, Vinod says he wanted to destroy the country and thus forced Nitin to build the EMP device for him, but he also needed a rare component available only at the museum. He regrets not killing Nitin once his work was done. He says he had grown bitter against the country after his son Shekhar, who was a soldier, was fatally wounded in a road accident and people indifferently left him bleeding to death there. Abhijeet sir sympathizes for what happened to Shekhar, but condemns Vinod's intention to harm innocents because of the deeds of a few bad apples. He says the court will decide his punishment now.
