Sriti Jha was born in Begusarai in Bihar on 26th Feb, 1986. She spent her childhood in Kolkata and Nepal before her family finally settled in Delhi where she finished her schooling and further studies. It was while studying at Sri Venkateswara College that she joined the English Dramatics Society named "Verbum" in 2004. She went on to become the President of the society and got her first main role in a Verbum play titled "Ritual in Blood". She won the Best Actor Award in the Delhi University dramatics circuit for this particular performance. It was in Delhi that she auditioned and got selected for one of the main roles in a Disney show called "Dhoom Machao Dhoom" and moved to Mumbai after its shooting location got shifted there. And so began her TV journey...
Associate Professor Pragya Arora is not like most girls. Practical to a fault, she doesn't have time for dreams or fantasies and has a very simple and direct approach towards life and love, with the belief that if thoughts are compatible love will happen on its own. Being the elder daughter she has taken on the responsibility of her family and also helps her mother run their marriage hall, Kumkum Bhagya. If at all she has a weakness it's her family, especially her more outgoing sister, Bulbul, and would do anything in her power to see them happy. She is always more than ready to protect them and stand up for her loved ones even going as far as to sacrifice her own happiness and well-being.
Now as the reluctant bride of a famous rockstar and thrust into circumstances beyond her control, she finds herself dealing with the biggest challenge of her life...her husband.
Sriti Jha made her debut in Dhoom Machao Dhoom on Disney Channel as the shy and superstitious Malini Sharma, one of 4 school girls who form their own musical group called the Pink Band.
Jiya Jale on 9X channel saw Sriti in her first lead role as Sunaina Kotak, an ordinary girl-next-door, who goes through the trials and tribulations of falling in love.
The role that really brought out the actor in Sriti was that of Sudha Sharma in Jyoti on Imagine TV. She played the younger sister of the title character, who suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder. She handled the roles of the timid & weak Sudha and her bold & glamorous alter-ego, Devika with equal panache.
At the same time as Jyoti, Sriti played the lead role of Suhani in the Fantasy Love Story Shaurya Aur Suhani on Star Plus. She played the proud and feisty Princess Suhani who falls in love with Shaurya.
Sriti's next role was equally challenging as Sandhya Savratkar in Rakt Sambandh on Imagine TV. She played the role of a blind girl who finds herself married into an aristocratic family with a dark secret, and on regaining her eyesight, goes on to take revenge on them in the guise of Vrinda, a spunky tapori.
Sriti's most popular role to date is that of Jhanvi Dobriyal / Sia Raghavendra Pratap Singh in Saubhagyavati Bhava on channel Life OK. She played Jhanvi, a victim of domestic violence who after bearing daily horrific torture from her abusive husband manages to escape, takes on the new identity of Sia, and with the help of a mechanic brings about justice for herself and puts her husband behind bars.
Sriti entered Colors channel's long running show Balika Vadhu in January 2013, as an illiterate yet bold Rajasthani village girl and young mother who is a victim of child marriage and abuse by her in-laws and husband yet finds the strength to escape her hell in order to give her son a better life. She is encouraged by the family who gives her refuge to restart her education and become independent by training to be a nurse.
