Chapter 41
The sangeet was a joyous affair. Songs played, guest chatted and after everyone had arrived Divya welcome the guests. Geet and Maan got the first dance and they were soon followed by the guests. The highlight, however, was Armaan and Pari who showed their talent and gained many kisses (much to Armaan's distaste) and compliments. Nikhil finally took his chance and asked Riya for a dance. He did meet her regularly and talk with her but he wanted to get her know closer. This was a good chance.
The Haldi passed eventless. Pinky, who had been at her mother's place for the past month due to her pregnancy, joined Geet for the wedding. She helped her get ready, very happy for her friend. As per Geet's wish, the wedding was being held at her old home, RAG S Mishra. As the pundit chanted the holy words and Maan was impatiently waiting to see his bride, Geet was looking at her face in the mirror. Again, she was all decked up as a bride. Memories of her first marriage flashed in front of her eyes but she didn't let them ruin the moment. Over the last month she had accepted Maan from her heart. Today was the day she was going to be his for the rest of her life. And her heart filled with warmth at the thought. She was ready.
As Geet came down, Maan's breath got stuck in his chest. There was no words that could have described how beautiful Geet looked in her wedding attire. What shocked him most was seeing her in the same dress he had initially liked so much. Geet must have exchanged the dresses sometime before the marriage. As she sat next to him, Maan looked at Geet's smiling face.
"Who will give away the bride?" The pundit asked. This was something Geet had thought about before.
"I hope, Adi can do the honors." Adi was touched. With moist eyes he performed the kanyadaan and stepped back to his wife.
Pinky was feeling too tired and left for home right after the wedding. As Geet left her old home, she looked back once again. Finally, she was going to leave for good. She hadn't thought about what to do with the house but she would keep it. If not for herself, it may become haven for someone else.
The post wedding functions had taken up a lot of Maan's patience and energy. It was already past ten and he had seen Geet's drooping eyes before she had been taken up to their room. As the last guests left and he friends finally left him to join his wife, Maan was astonished to find the bed empty. He wondered where Geet was. The bathroom door opened and he found his newly wed wife come out, washing her face.
"Wo Maan, I am sorry I changed but I got tired and wanted to wash my face and then the makeup was smudged and the blouse got wet and..." Geet's rambling were drowned in a passionate kiss by Maan. He leaned his forehead on hers and panted.
"Gosh Geet, are you planning on killing me today? First your wedding dress and now this." He indicated towards Geet's nightdress that was a black silk piece, short and sexy. Geet's blushed.
"Nothing like that."
"Maybe you should change. I don't think I can control myself with you looking like this." Geet kissed his cheek and whispered.
"I have accepted this relationship wholeheartedly. There is no need to hold back." These words were enough for Maan to sweep Geet off her feet and finally show her how much he loved her.
One topic was much talked about at Khurana Mansion right after Diwali. Vicky, who was now settled in his position at MC was the next candidate in line for marriage.
"So devarji, do tell. Do you have any Ms Special in your life?" Naintara and Geet, both asked Vicky. The boy, a cool and composed person most of the time started to fluster.
"Me? No... I mean not yet." But Naintara wouldn't let go of this chance.
"You mean you want to have a love marriage? Too bad Dadi already suggested a girl" And with that, she removed a photo from her book. Even Geet leaned forward to see and burst into laughter when she saw Vicky's horrified expression.
"WHAT? Dadi chose this baby hippo for me? I must talk to her." When he left, Geet said:
"Naintara you are too bad, he might actually believe you."
When Vicky reached his Dadi's room, he heard her talk with his mom:
"Look Divya, once before have you rushed things and gotten Maan engaged to Sameera. I am not saying you thought ill for him but please don't take any decision in haste."
"I am just calling them over for dinner. Vicky and Sandhya can talk to each other casually." Dadi sighed, a clear sign that she was unhappy.
"Maaji, is it that you don't want Vicky to marry now or not with the girl I am proposing?"
"I had actually hoped him to marry someone else. She is a girl, who has learned a lot from Geet and being someone with such a strong character is not usual."
"You mean Riya?" Dadi nodded.
"But she is still at university."
"She will be done in a few years and I am sure Vicky is not too keen on having children now. He himself is still young, not like Maan." Divya gave this a thought. Riya was really a nice girl. And she and Vicky...
"Shall was talk to Geet first?"
"Yes but not now. Riya's exams are in a few days and we don't want her to find out and get stressed."
