Hi all. Ok I'm really trying to understand Gopi's passionate reaction to throwing the parrot owner in jail?
What was his crime?
- Did he ever pelt stones at a woman whilst she walked dangerously close to a cliff edge?
- Perhaps he was guilty of kidnapping and dumping a child?
- Maybe he was guilty of attempted murder? And not once, but many times?
- Maybe he got a taste for attempted murder that went from attempting to killing kids to killing poor old ladies that had lost their memory?
- Maybe he had betrayed whole members of his family?
Certainly jail worthy causes i think we'd all agree? But no, in this case, his crime was to keep a parrot locked up in a cage. And judging by Gopi's extreme reaction, locking a parrot in a cage is the only reason why someone should be thrown in jail. I mean her reaction was so strong, that she even ran, and she made running look fast even in slow motion!
So I'm rather perplexed at her reaction to this humble man who was just trying to earn a living and entertaining innocent kids who were bored in the summer holidays and who needed a much needed laugh after all the antics of the last few days.
I really can't understand Gopi's reasoning behind the whole revenge plot, but perhaps I'm being short sighted and I shall keep watching to find out how it all develops.
But I somehow feel that her reaction was over the top. I could have understood the scene, if it was clear that Gopi was misdirecting her anger and actually venting her frustration out on him because she couldn't throw Radha in jail. For a moment, I actually thought Rashi was coming out to calm her down and say something like, "I know you're angry Gopi, and we'll find a way to exact out plan. But in the mean time, you, parrot owner take your parrot and go from here". But the writers didn't have the foresight to show such emotional depth.
No instead, the whole time I was watching the parrot "speak" I thought the whole thing was a little immature and not a justifiable way of bringing the story to a close. We, the loyal audience, would have much preferred to see Kokila's wrath, a good couple of slaps, a few pelts round the kitchen with the hard end of the broom and then a couple of police escorting Radha off to jail. But no.
But as I said earlier, I'm being short sighted and perhaps the CVS are giving us something that's more than what we normally would expect to see? But somehow hurtling anger and threats at a humble parrot owner is not quite the reaction I was hoping to see in a mother and sister betrayed. It was over the top and a let down, regardless of whether that parrot was later used as tool to voice the truth.
