Meet the "love child" of France and England:

C a n a d a

Now, meet the rebellious older step brother:
Un i t e d S t a t e s
O f A m e r i c a

It has now been2 3 8 years since America fought and left England, on July 4th, 1776.
1 4 7 years for Canada since it joined its older brother on the map as an independent nation on July 1st, 1867.

W h a t Do Y o u K n o w ?

Name two words that Canadians and Americans spell or speak differently.

What did the two countries rank as in the Sochi Winter Olympics in terms of medal count?

Describe each country in one word.

Name two Canadian actors and two Canadian singers in Hollywood.

Who won the Stanley Cup (cup won in the National Hockey League play offs) this year on June 13th, 2014?

Name one reason why the other country is cooler than the other.

If you think you won that quiz, flaunt this and promote the birthday boys. 😃

Scroll down below for more on the two neighbouring countries.

Eh?

A cultural mosaic.
Canada has an official law for 'Multiculturalism' known as the
'M u l t i c u l t u r a l i s m A c t'
, passed to preserve and enhance the multiculturalism in Canada.

Canada is mostly known as an 'immigrant nation' with over 20% of its population being foreign born, above any other G8 country.

Over 22 immigrant languages (majorly spoken, not ALL) have been reported in Canada. Hindi, Gujrati, and Urdu are among the many spoken languages of Indian descent with just over 100, 000 persons speaking each. The top immigrant language happened to be
P u n j a b i .

A melting pot.
There are over 30% people of colour in the USA, with the President itself an African American - President Barack Obama.

The Hispanic and Asian populations have grown over the decade with more people immigrating to the USA. There has been an increase of almost 43% in the population of Asian descent.

Around10% of the population is 'foreign born' among the G8 countries.
