Besides star kids making their foray into Bollywood this year, there's a horde of television actors gearing up to make their presence felt on the Bollywood terra firma. One of the most promising of them is Siddharth Shukla (Balika Vadhu fame) who will be launched by Karan Johar in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania featuring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Siddharth shares his journey from television to films

Was acting always on your mind?

Yes, the goal was to do films after television. I'm feeling extremely proud to be part of Dharma Productions and thankful to Karan Johar to have given me the opportunity.

So did you learn acting?

Yes, I learned it while working simultaneously for television. But I have never been to any acting school; instead I learnt it on the sets. I felt I wasn't good at acting and didn't get film offers. Television has raised my confidence as an actor.

Many television actors prefer quitting TV once they get into films. Do you have similar plan?

I don't think that way. Balika Vadhu got me here, so I should respect that as it has given me name, fame and money. Whatever I'm today is because of the show. I am very happy with them so it would be bad on my part to just switch off.

How do you strike a balance between TV and films?

Fortunately, the makers of the show and Colors channel organized and managed everything for me. Now that the shooting of Humpty... is over I'm again at Balika Vadhu set.

Humpty... seems to be a fun film...

Yes it's a fun film and people wonder what Varun and I are doing in the film. I am playing an NRI, Angad Bedi. How Angad enters the lives of Varun and Alia and what happens next is to be seen.

How was your experience working with Varun and Alia?

Oh they were very nice to me. They never made me feel like a newcomer. Shashank is such a cool director. It's his first film too. He was very approachable and loved sharing ideas. It was great to work with someone who has no attitude or air about himself and someone very grounded.

How is Karan as a producer?

I have got my cheques on time so I am sure he is the best producer. Seriously, I think he is fantastic. I haven't seen him on the sets ever. Karan is a fantastic director himself so it's great that he didn't come on the sets.

Sid's interview are treat to read each time there is something new n intresting

Loved his grounded answers. It is easy to get swayed away when u get 3 movie deal from Dharma Production , but this guy has his head on his shoulder. ⭐️

Love that he held BV in such high respect. BV has truly given him a place in this industry and each time he gets a chance to express his gratitude towards them 😃

Proud to be his fan. 😊
