If there is an issue with a thread in another forum, report it and bring it to the attention of the DT, there is no need for members to go ground moral policing and making justifications along the lines of 'we do this so you should as well' Members have no right to tell others what they can or cannot do. As long as you follow the rules and report others that do not, that is all there is to it, escalating and dragging the matter serves to purpose other then causing more instigation (as very apparent in this thread)
