The first thing that occurs is that whether a talented actress like Preity Zinta should bout it on the screen. Given that she is a proven talent, freaking out on the screen with a lip-lock might at first seem a bit over the top, for her fans. Because, this is probably the first time Preity has done the lip-smack on the screen. But, the question that perks up is that why doesn't the media lash out at A-grade actresses like Preity, Aishwarya, Rani when these beauties go spicy on the screen. Why are only Mallikas and Bipashas made scapegoats when they try to sizzle it up in their movies. Is it because the tag of 'talented actors' not been stuck on them yet or is it because the media itself has conceived them to be the 'official' sex symbols of Bollywood. One can remember that prolonged kissing scene in RAJA HINDUSTANI between Aamir and Karisma or the smooch in the movie JOSH where Chandrachud Singh and Aishwarya Rai were caught in the act. But it didin't make much to the headlines as compared to MURDER or JISM which took it to the front-seat when it comes to controversies.
Apparently, when all the other industry bosses would have highlighted the 'act' in the promos, Yashraj preferred to keep it canned. What could be the reason? Did they want to take the audiences by surprise so that the film is able to conjure up a lot of mouth-publicity? Well, doesn't matter if it's pre-release publicity or post-release publicity, the kiss may be a hot topic for a while. And that's enough time for the makers to make their moollah.
Well, they played it 'Preity-Saif', it seems!
