When Madhu returned home in the evening, RK was still not back. She sighed in relief, lately she had been wanting to be back home before RK. Welcoming him in the evening made her feel complete. She was drinking water, when her gaze fell on the sofa. The packets were still there. She cursed herself and went to clear them.
As she took out the clothes and kept them in the almirah, she noticed a saree that she hadnt bought. She looked at it intently and tried to recognize it. She didnt buy it and she was sure. Suddenly the image of this saree draped around the mannequin in the store came to her mind. Sure her eyes had widened seeing the beautiful red georgette saree with black shimmering border, but when she approached the display, she saw that it was quite expensive and she had turned back without any change in expression. She knew if RK noticed her, he would get it for her sure. She hadnt at all showed that she liked it but still he came to know. And he had bought it for her without even telling her. She smiled seeing it, not because she liked the saree but because she felt so lucky to have RK who gets to know everything that goes in her mind.
She heard the door click and she knew RK had come. She rushed down and saw his tired face lightening up seeing her. He had not expected that she qould have been back specially when it was wedding season and being a jewellery designer he knew how busy her work would be going these days.
"You are going to spoil me Madhu..." he said when Madhu served him the hot coffee.
"You have always been spoilt..." she said non chalantly as she sat on the chair opposite.
"We know who the spoilt one was... Oh sorry.. Is..." He said sipping his coffee.
"Haha.. Very funny..." she said rolling her eyes. RK smiled at her brightly.
"RK..." she said with a changed tone suddenly.
"Yeah..." he looked intently at her as he was aware this tone signified something serious.
"I was talking to Radha ma today..." she said smiling nervously
"Good... but you do that everyday..." he looked at her still intently trying to ask what was different this time.
"I mean cant we go home... atleast for some time... to visit..." she asked apprehensively.
"Sure we can... Is there some important reason?" He asked raising an eyebrow at her.
"Yes... Radha ma said that she would beat you up and frankly I found the idea very exciting..." she said suddenly brightening up at the thought that they could go to meet their family.
"As if you would let her..." RK said in a teasing way.
Madhu frowned. "Yeah yeah fine..." she said shrugging.
"Come on Madhu... Ma cant even think of that..." he said laughing.
"No, she thought.. she said that..." she said as if amazed herself.
"But you would have virtually pounced on that..." he said laughing hard now. "Once was enough for her babe.." he said teasingly.
A 12 year old Madhu ran behind RK with a broken airplane in her hand.
"I wont leave you, you Octopus.." screamed the girl with all the anger she could gather in her naive self.
"You cant catch me, fish..." the 12 year old RK teased her as he ran. He turned to look at Madhu's struggling face but found the place empty but then he bumped into something. He turned to look at what it was only to find an angry frowning baby Madhu glaring at him. Madhu hit him on his arm.
"That is for breaking my airplane..." she said with all the anger.
RK stood up frowning. He looked at her in contempt and then pulled her hair to which Madhu shouted.
"You cant win, you fishy..." he said totally impressed with himself.
Madhu kicked him on his buttocks. But when RK was about to hit her again, Radha came to the rescue. She pulled RK.
"Rishu.. Is this the way you behave with a girl..?" She shouted at him. Madhu looked at her wide eyed while RK dropped his head.
"Ma... I would hit her.. she just kicked me... I wont leave without revenge..." RK said stubbornly.
" Rishu...!" She said in an angry tone.
RK looked up at his mother and then at Madhu. He thought Madhu might be enjoying the show. And suddenly that was insult enough for him and he decided to attack her. As he advanced towards her, Radha pulled his arm and slapped him. But she heard the gasp from the other side.
She looked towards Madhu and saw her mouth wide open while the airplane dropped on the ground. She ran to RK and held his hand.
"RK.. Are you okay?" She asked worriedly.
RK, who was uptil now standing unashamedly suddenly had tears forming in his eyes. He didnt know if those were for Radha slapping him or for Madhu being so concerned for him that he felt that he should have been crying. Seeing tears in RK's eyes Madhu turned to Radha. She was furious now while Radha looked at the two amazed.
"Why did you slap him...?" Shouted an angry Madhu.
"Beta he was going to hit you.." Radha stated the obvious.
"So what... Why did you slap?" Madhu said in a shaking voice with tears threatening her own eyes.
"But you were also hitting him na... See... How bad you are feeling now... So dont fight both of you..." Radha tried very cleverly to use the situation and tell them that they shouldn't fight and hit.
"No..." said a stubborn Madhu. "I can hit him..." she stretched the syllables like in a stubborn demand.
"Oohhh" Radha got amused at her. Suddenly she felt like smiling.
Madhu turned to RK. "I am sorry RK... You had this because of me..." Madhu said getting emotional.
RK looked at her for a moment and then went away while Madhu followed him trying to pacify him.
And for the next 2 days Madhu was constantly behind RK to forgive her while RK enjoyed this attention. He loved the fact that Madhubala the pig-head is running behind him apologizing. She would do all his works, listen to every demand. She would even give her chocolates to him.
Madhu felt so hurt. RK was not talking to her since 2 days inspite of so much apologies.. She sat in his bedroom and was looking at the slippers when suddenly her eyes began to well up. RK who was playing on his PS 2 suddenly heard a sniff. He stiffened at the sound and turned around dreading. And he saw what he hated the most. Tears were flowing down her cheeks and she was trying to muffle her cries. RK ran to her and sat beside her on the floor.
"Madhu please don't cry... please darling... I am sorry I hurt you... Please..."
"You dont want to be my friend anymore..." she said still crying.
"No its not that... I would be your friend always. Your best friend... please... look at me.." he tried to console her.
Madhu looked up to see his eyes which were now red. "Madhu please darling, dont cry.. I am sorry..." he said holding his ears.
"But you are not talking to me at all..." she said as fresh tears started to form.
"I was just playing... This way you are with me all the time... Nd I want to be with you all the time... Thatsy I was behaving like that..."
"Really?" Madhu asked innocently.
"Yes babe.." he said.
They didnt know what took them over. But they couldnt help the pull as they came closer. As they kept staring the other's eyes when suddenly their lips met and they sucked each other slowly and softly. There was no doubt that they had felt pure love for each other. And they knew the other was most important possession to them.
GAME OVER!! A hard voice struck their ears suddenly and they jerked apart. The game that RK was playing on his play station had ended because he had left it half way seeing Madhu crying.
They stared at each other afraid of what they had done. Not knowing what else to do Madhu just stood up and went away. After a few days though, they were back to normal but Madhu always got conscious whenever RK called her 'babe'. And that was the reason she had started hating that. At first RK didnt realise why suddenly she gets so much offended with the word but soon he remembered. But by then he was already enjoying the frustrated look on her face and he decided to keep it as his weapon against her.
But even after all this Madhu didnt talk to Radha for close to 15 days. Finally when Padmini didnt pay heed to Radha's telling her not to force Madhu and intervened, the matter had got closed. But Madhu still maintained that nobody would hit RK. And even when Radha and RK were in the privacy of their home, RK would threaten her that if she slaps him, he would tell Madhu.
They both lauughed hard as they remembered those incidents. "We had a crazy life..." Madhu said as she quitened herself.
"I bet.. BABE" he teased her. The mirth of the moment and the memories of their first and only kiss had made Madhu a bit vulnerable. And for the first time she blushed instead of getting irritated.
"I never thought that day that we would be here..." Madhu said smiling.
"Here.. You mean in this apartment?" He asked playfully.
"No yaar... like married..." she said blushing a little.
"Yeah..." RK said a little disappointed. "But I had thought.. and i never regretted that day" he said smiling nervously trying to tell her what he felt about it because it was the first time Madhu was talking about it and it was the only time that they had actually kissed.
Madhu looked at his disappointed eyes. Though he never told but she knew what went through his mind.
"Dont be a baby RK..." she said trying to lighten the mood. Heavy and emotional situations were not what Madhu could handle... specialy with RK she would get this awkward feeling and ultimately she would end up being the cranky carefree dumbo. Well, RK had spoilt her in that department and she knew because he was the one speaking for both of their emotions..
"I am not being a baby..." he frowned at her.
"Really.. then why u bought that saree?" She averted the topic.
"That...! because i liked it" he shrugged.
"Awww how sweet... so when are you planning to wear that?" She maintained a straight and serious face.
"What?" RK looked at her baffled "YOU! would wear that.." RK glared at her.
"I didnt want that... you liked it... you wear it.." she said taking a biscuit in her mouth casually.
"I will make you wear it..." he smirked sexily at her and Madhu felt weak everywhere in her body. Her stomach tucked in and back stiffened.
"What do you mean by that?" She asked in a dread.
"Yeah... i will lock u up in the washroom and would not open until u wear it.." he said smirking still as he knew what Madhu had thought. He could easily judge her.
Madhu relaxed a bit but also felt disappointed. She would have loved it to no ends if RK did what she had thought.

Madhu's phone rang. She panicked as she tried to reach out to it cursing herself for changing the caller tune this morning. Her hands almost shaking and she couldnt grip the damned phone. RK too felt the tension and he was even getting turned on. Not because of the song but how Madhu was reacting to the whole scenario.
Madhu cut the call and smiled at RK nervously while RK stared her with passion filled eyes. His stare made her feel even more nervous.
"What?" She scowled at last not able to hold on.
RK smiled naughtily.. "you are cute.." he said.
"I am not..." she frowned.
"I know you are..." he said teasingly. While Madhu couldn't help but smile.
