Since Always
Part 1
"I cant believe these people are such damned liars..." an angry and frustrated woman entered the door of a 3 room apartment.
A huffing puffing man with packets in hands entered behind her trying not to stumble. "Leave it Darling..."
"Leave it? These morons should be taught a lesson..." she said as she turned around wide eyed not believing her ears.
"Madhu... Its the way things are..." he said as he kept the packets on the sofa now trying to breathe.[BR
]"But it shouldnt be... who gave them the right to play with the feelings of innocent people.." Madhu said as she handed her husband a glass of cold water.
He saw the glass and gulped the water. He felt so much relieved. What else could the situation of a loving husband be when returning after shopping with his wife. He dropped himself to another sofa as he stretched his arms.
"Madhu... Did you not enjoy today?" He asked smiling mirthfully at his wife's complaints.
"I did... but it would have been better if we had got that..." she said with a sigh as she sat on the sofa beside her.
"I had told you na... not to take it too seriously.." he said smiling at her.
"Yes... I wish I had listened to you RK... " she said as she let her head fall on the sofa back closing her eyes trying to relax.
RK shook his head at his wife and he too closed his eyes as he rested his head at the sofa back.
He felt bad for Madhu though. He had seen how she had been jumping and shrieking with joy when those people from "Happy Journey" travel company had called her and told her that they had won some stupid lucky draw. And they had won a trip for two to Malaysia. They ONLY now have to come to their venue to complete the formalities. He was confused at first but then Madhu told him that while shopping the other day at the mall she had filled this form when the man from that company had requested her. RK knew at that moment only what would be happening and he even tried convincing her to drop the idea of going to their venue. But Madhu was Madhu... Adamant at what she believed.
Whole drive Madhu gave him lectures over feminism and how "Them Men" cant believe and accept that a woman can achieve something even when its a small lucky draw. RK had kept quite as he listened to her, nodding his head every now and then, as he knew that she would realise it soon. And as always he was right yet again. But even now on the return drive Madhu was giving him lecture on how the people of this world have forgotten all ethics and play with the feelings of innocent middle class people. And again Rishabh was nodding his head as he knew that she was angrier than he was. Well that was the case most of the times.
"Madhu..." he said with eyes still closed.
"Hmmm"
"Do you want to go to Malaysia?" He asked calmly but seriously.
Madhu eyes opened with a jerk as she straightened her head but the next second she realised that RK wont be able to afford that.
"No RK... It was just that I was happy that we would get that trip for free... Not that I crave to go there..." she said trying to remain non chalant.
"Amhmm... I didnt say you crave to go there..." he said with a slight smile on his face as he realised that Madhu is never able to hide her true feelings except for that one emotion which he had been craving since the last two years of their marriage.
Madhu bit her tongue as she realised her mistake. "I just used hyperbola... its not to be taken note of... Forget that... What say if we go out for dinner?" She jumped excitedly at the last part but majorly trying to avert the topic as she knew RK always gets to know what goes on in her mind except for that one emotion which she has been trying to tell him but always found herself nervous.
"GO OUT FOR DINNER?? Madhu spare me the horror... I cant go to the washroom for now... and you want to go out again..." he said exasperated while Madhu chuckled as she was successful in averting his mind from Malaysia...
"But I am also tired... How will I cook...?" She pouted.
"We can order something..." he said relaxing again.
"This is not fair..!" Madhu tied her arms infront at her chest in displeasure.
"What?" RK looked at her confused.
"How come everytime you are the one to solve the problems? Why do you get better ideas... Always..." she said as she flared in anger.
RK smiled at her and gave her a flying kiss while Madhu blushed. She averted her gaze shyly and buried herself in her purse as she came with her cellphone and called the nearby restaurant and gave order for their dinner.
"What about these shopping bags Madam...?" He asked looking at the sofa beside him.
"Yeah... these bags..." Madhu sighed feeling guilty...
"What "Yeah these bags.."? When will you clear these up?" He said authoritatively while Madhu's mouth opened.
"Ohh Hello... You are going to help me..." she says offended.
"Madhu I already helped in filling these..." he said teasingly.
"I am sorry RK.. I shluldnt have bought so many things.." she said guilty looking at the bags.
"Its okay Madhu I can understand... I have seen you since childhood... Its not in your hands..." he said sympathetically.
"But still I need to control it... I dont know what happens whenever I get angry I need to do shopping..." she said with almost a tear threatening her eye.
RK bit his lip to control himself from bursting out. "Thats why I never let you be angry..." he joked.
"Yes.. and I didnt listen to you thatsy i landed up getting hurt.." she said now even more guilty.
"Hey hey... Dont cry..." he said worriedly as he rushed to sit by her side as he held her hands.
"I am sorry.. I spent a lot..."
"Whom do I earn for? Its you stupid..." he said pinching her nose.
She sniffed in her tears and looked at him lovingly. When will he understand that I adore him to no ends, was what went through her mind seeing his love showering eyes.
The doorbell rang and Madhu went to answer the door. She returned back with food in her hands and placed it on the table while waiting for RK to freshen up and come. They ate the food while discussing about their adventurous day. They laughed and teased each other and felt the bliss of their happily married life and their small world.
The night deepened and they headed to bed. Since 2 years, each night they would approach their bed with new hopes. RK hoping that Madhu would tell him that she is ready while Madhu hoping that RK might make the first move and claim her his. Well not exactly 2 years for Madhu, it was lesser for her. But still each night felt long with the other lying on the other side of that small pillow wall. It was less than an arm away but for them it felt like the wall of china. The nights would just pass with them being too much aware of the other's proximity and then they would doze off.
As they laid down today, RK looked at her and gave his customary smile which had a different and special meaning for Madhu. It felt as if he comforted her not to get nervous to sleep with him. As an assurance that he wont cross his limits. But hell now she madly wanted him to cross all of them. Madhu turned her head to the side and saw RK sleeping by now. She smiled seeing him into a peaceful sleep. He was really very tired today and she had taken certain undue advantages of him. But that doesnt matter.. She thought. I am his wife and I have the right to take all advantages. She blushed as she realised the deeper meanings of her thought.
She remembered her day, how she had shrieked and jumped at a stupid phonecall and when RK tried to warn her she had blasted over him. And even when proved wrong she was the one going on and on with her complaints while he listened patiently. And supported her just like he supported her 2 years back. The way he had taken that RIGHT DECISION for both of them at that time when she was to again act impulsive. She remembered that fateful day when the bomb of marriage was dropped over her.
