OS- Frozen Moments
(Inspired from some lines of a celine dion song..)
Though this world tears us apart,
We are still together in my heart,
I want the world to hear my cry.
Even if I have to die..
Love will not die..Love will change the world..
Vrishali sat in his tent.. It was 16th day of the war.. Sun was soon going to set ..With mixed emotions surrounding ..She began to move around..So many terrible thoughts coming in her minds..She closed her eyes.. Horrific images crossed her mind... She opened her eyes quickly... This wait was killing her... Will he come alive.. and what if he didnt..
A thought somewhere just killing her inside...
Counch blew and battle was over... They were coming back...Vrishali ran out to the gates of Kauravas camp..where all women were waiting for their loved ones... Many came and there were heart warming scenes of reunion.. But there was no sign of him...Where was he...He was supposed to lead them as Commander.. He was supposed to be first one reaching...But there was no trace of him... A worried vrishali looked far across battlefield from where warriors were coming back.. With bated breath..she waited..anxiously looking ..She saw duryodhana and all his brothers arriving...There were cheers along.. this gave her hope... Then where was her man...her love..her Karna..
All her sons had come ..She gave them blessings..and she was delighted to see them come back alive.. Before she could ask them about Karna... They were called in by duryodhana for a meeting about war strategies...
She was again alone... Then a sight gave her new life...He was standing there ..
She felt moment frozen in the time... All she cared was seeing him alive... Tears brimmed in corner of her eyes...She gently smiled at him..
Karna came closer to her sensing her fears... He held her in his broad arms..
He whispered in her ears "I am alright...Its okay..."
Hearing those words, she held him tight.. tears flowing from those eyes seems to be saying their own language which karna understood... He gently caressed her cheeks to wipe those tears..
"You thought I will come in two pieces.." He laughed ..trying to lighten her mood..
Vrishali just held his mouth..."Dont you dare say that again... "
Angered vrishali left him there ..as she barged into his tent..
"How can he joke in these moments... Did he even realise what I go through each day of war..These waits are killing each time.. A hope is all I have.. and He doesnt even understand..."
Karna came in .. He could listen to every complaint of hers... He felt choked..He wished he could take away her worries...but he knew he was living on the edge... He could not guarantee his own life..How can he falsely assure her... He came closer to her...as she sat on his bed..He kept hand on her shoulder..kneeling beside her...
"I am so sorry.. I didnt mean too.."
"Vrishali lets live these moments that we have tonight.. I want to give you so much love tonight that is enough for rest of your life..."
Vrishali looked at him with anger in her eyes roaring like a tigress...
"I want you to love me everyday of my life... Dont you talk like you are going anywhere,you are not so lucky..."
Karna smiled .. "I have never been lucky .."
Vrishali could get his sarcasm here but she was in no mood to give it easy... Why he thinks playing with her emotions at this stage is funny...while it is not for her...
Karna just held her hand..and placed it gently upon his heart...
"You hear it... It says your name .. "
Vrishali knew it was his way of making her melt..She saw marks of battle on his chest.. She winced in pain .. How much it would have hurt him... Why do he always have to hide his pain...She thought..and got up to take some herbs...when he stopped still holding onto her hand...
"Dont go.. " He said with a lump in his throat..
Vrishali stopped and stared at his beautiful face shining bright with full moon rays peeping inside tent..
his eyes said so much..she didnt want to hear it...
"Why are you doing this to me.." Her voice choked... as he brought her closer to him .. his wounds bled..but it didnt mattered much..when his heart was bleeding along with the pain of his love... He wanted to love her ..and make sure it is enough for rest of her life...
Vrishali gently placed her hands on his wounds..those were deep cuts.. he let her heal him as he knew it was hurting her more...
He knew he had less time...Night came in with some magical moments...those moments they lived their whole life in...those moments that were their own.. when love conquered everything surrounding them...
Sun was reluctant to rise next morning.. But it had too.. Next day was in...
Vrishali was in her sweet sleep still in memories of last night with her husband...Karna was staring at her beautiful face...A sight so beautiful for him to behold ..He kissed her forehead..and got up to leave...He didnt want her to wake up..so that he could leave silently..without much noise..he took his armour and his bow and just got ready to leave...
He looked behind once .. How perfect that sight was..He was leaving behind his life..and he knew it..
"My love shall always stay...! "
