CHAPTER 3 - Link
CHAPTER 4
12:50 AM. A car stopped in front of Abdul's house. Two of the most capable and reliable Officers of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Senior Inspectors Abhijeet and Daya, stepped out of the car and walked through the gate towards the main door.
"Arey! Yeh kya? Darwaza khula hai?!", said Abhijeet, surprised... and a bit worried.
"Ho sakta hai humaare liye hi Abdulji ne khula chhoda ho...!", Daya said in return, though they both sensed that something was terribly wrong.
Both stood at the door. "Abdulji?" they called out a couple of times, but there was no reply. They tried to peep inside but could not make out anything as darkness filled the place. They could smell smoke and it wasn't difficult to guess that something was burning inside. They glanced at each other.
"Kya lagta hai Boss?" asked Daya, looking at the scenario.
"Hum ne bohot baar Abdulji ka phone try kiya. Phone band aa raha hai. Yeh khula darwaza, yeh dhuaan... Gadbad toh hai Daya...!" said Abhijeet, thoughtfully. "Chalo, andar chal ke dekhte hain!" said he, wearing his gloves. He pushed the door wide open and moved in with his gun in hand. Daya followed. Both very alert.
"Humein itni jaldi mein yahan bula liya aur ab khud gayab hain!" said Daya, moving his hands along the wall-surface,searching for the switchboard.
"Gayab hain, ya gayab kar diye gaye hain?!" corrected Abhijeet, trying to make out the surrounding things in the dim light.
"Haan... pata nahi kya batana chahte hain humein", wondered Daya, as he switched on the lights.
"My God!!" exclaimed Abhijeet in shock.
Daya quickly turned to know the reason, and he was stunned to see the lifeless body of Abdul lying there in a pool of blood.
Abhijeet checked the pulse. Daya looked at him curiously. "Dead!" informed Abhijeet, shaking his head in grief. The body was still warm.
"Khoon hue zyada time nahi hua hai..." remarked Daya.
While checking the body for wounds and marks, Abhijeet replied, "Haan, ek-dedh ghante pehele Abdulji ne phone kiya tha. Tab toh theek-thaak thay, lekin pareshaan lug rahe thay. Inhi 90 minton mein sab kuchh hua hai..." Inspecting the wound on Abdul's abdomen, Abhijeet continued, "Aur pait mein chaaku bhokne mein waqt hi kitna lagta hai..!!"
Daya was checking Abdul's pockets but found them empty. "Daya, zara andar dekho toh kya jal raha hai..!" instructed Abhijeet. Daya nodded, and went in.
Meanwhile, Abhijeet checked the main door for any marks, but the door and the lock were perfectly alright. Just then he heard a call from Daya, "Abhijeet!! Yahan kitchen mein aao!" Abhijeet went inside.
"Haan Daya?" He asked as he saw Daya kneeling down checking something.
"Yeh dekho, yahan kuchh jala diya gaya hai!" told Daya. "Abhi bhi thoda garam lag raha hai" he added.
As Daya was about to touch the burnt things, Abhijeet stopped him at once, "Daya! Wait a minute!" said he looking carefully at residue. He continued, "Ek baat notice ki tumne? Dekho, yeh jali hui cheezein zameen pe bikhri hui hain. Koi aise alag alag toh cheezon ko nahi jalaayega! One more thing, hum jab kisi cheez ko jalaate hain, take paper for example, jalne ke baad bhi it remains as almost a single piece till it is not disturbed. Lekin yahan bohot kuchh raakh ban chuka hai... Aur yahan itni hawa toh nahi aayi hogi jiski wajah se aisa hua ho...!!"
"Oh! Mutlab kisi ne yeh aag bujhai hai...!" realised Daya, "Ho sakta hai ki Abdulji ko khooni ka koi kaala raaz pata chal gaya tha aur yeh uske saboot hain."
"Hmmm, ho sakta hai...!" agreed Abhijeet. He continued, "Filhaal hum in jali hui cheezon ko aise hi chhodte hain. Dr. Salunkhe iss mein se kuchh na kuchh toh kaam ki cheez zaroor nikaal lenge!!" Daya smiled in agreement.
Both were about to leave the kitchen when Daya noticed something, "Yeh kya?! Abhijeet, yeh dekho! Kisi phone ka sim card bhi jala diya hai!!"
"Haan! Sim card hi lag raha hai!" observed Abhijeet. "Ab ya toh yeh Abdulji ka hai ya phir Khooni ka!"
"Kisi aur ka bhi ho sakta hai!"
"Haan, hone ke liye toh bohot kuchh ho sakta hai Daya! Abhi humein Abdulji ka phone dhoondna hoga. Shayad uss se kuchh pata chal jaaye...!"
"Haan... Waise bhi Abdulji ka phone nahi lag raha hai..."
Both checked the kitchen and the bedrooms thoroughly but found nothing important or suspiscious. The murder weapon too was nowhere to be found which lead them to the conclusion that the murderer might have either taken the murder weapon with himself or must have thrown it somewhere outside the house, somewhere on his way.
