Neha looked at the three pieces on the floor. She looked at her father who was staring at the broken necklace. She felt bad.

"I'm so sorry Baba... Main darr gayi aur pata nahi kaise yeh haath se gir gaya..."

"Koi baat nahi beta" said he, picking up the pieces. He fixed the necklace in no time. "Yeh lo!! Ho gaya pehele jaisa!!"

He handed over the necklace to Neha. She looked at the necklace in one piece, surprised at how quickly her father fixed it.

"How did you do that?!"

Ignoring the query, he warned Neha, "Yeh necklace pehenna mut! Keep it safe somewhere..." Saying so he walked out of his room to the hall.

Neha followed him, placing the necklace in the box. "Keep it safe?!" She did not understand why. "Lekin Baba, main isay pehen kyun nahi sakti? I so loved it!!"

"I knew it, mujhe pata tha tumhein bohot pasand aayega... Isiliye itna sambhal ke rakha tha maine", he paused. Neha was waiting for the reason behind not wearing it. He noticed that and continued, "Beta maine isay itne saalon tak sambhal ke rakha tha. Main nahi chahta koi yeh necklace dekhe... Sab khatam ho jaayega!" He was lost into his own thoughts.

Neha looked at him, thinking "Baba nahi chahte koi yeh necklace dekhe... Lekin kyun?!" She went towards her father, "Baba, aisa kya hai iss necklace mein?"

"k..k..kuchh nahi, necklace hi toh hai!!". He looked away from her. She found it odd. She kept looking at him raising an eyebrow. He realised that Neha would not leave him until she was given a satisfactory reason.
He tried to convince Neha by saying, "Tum toh jaanti ho yeh necklace kitna puraana hai. Aaj agar main isay bazaar mei bechun toh main lakho kama sakta hoon. Main nahi chahta ki kisi ko pata chale ki tumhaare paas aisa koi necklace hai" He looked at her and continued, "Tum samajh rahi ho na?"

Neha nodded as if she agreed, but somewhere she felt that there was something more to it. She realised that she shouldn't ask more about it, at least not now.

She just sat beside him in the veranda, enjoying the cool night breeze. They sat silently before he spoke,

"Tumhein yaad hai, you used to complain about your name... tumhare class mein teen aur ladkiyon ka naam Neha tha! You felt your name was too common..."

"Yes, I remember Baba!", she laughed.

"Lekin tumhara naam bohot special hai! Bohot soch ke yeh..."

He was interrupted by Neha.
"I know it Baba!! Kitni baar bataayenge aap...!!" she complained. She repeated monotonously, what he always told her... "'Neha' means 'one with beautiful eyes' in Marathi, it means 'love', it means 'rain' in Sanskrit, it means 'hidden' in Urdu... I know it Baba!"

He laughed. "Don't forget it ever!" said he, smiling. "You are very special!"

They both enjoyed looking at the starry sky for a while.

"Kaafi raat ho chuki hai Baba, I think we should sleep now!" suggested Neha. "Mujhe bhi subah department jaana hai, aur aap ka bhi programme hai kal!"

"Good night beta! Aur haan!! Uss necklace aur box ko ghar mein mut rakhna, keep it somewhere out of home, somewhere safe!"
