Smoking/drinking during pregnancy.

A while back we had a debate about whether partial birth abortion should be allowed. and i was actually surprised to see a lot of ppl were pro-choice. here's another thing to ponder:

i took my son to the fair today and saw a approximately 7 month pregnant woman smoking one cigarette after another.......is this okay?

according to the pro-choice arguements, until the baby is born it is a part of the mother's body and the mother has a right to do what she wants with her body.

so is it okay for her to drink and smoke during pregnancy knowing very well that she is causing harm to the baby and will hinder its development not only in the womb but also possibly during its entire lifetime. it is her body after all right?

there are many programs for women who are pregnant to quit smoking. during her routine visits to the doctor i am sure she is educated about it. smoking and all can cause harm to the babies. such women who still opt for this cant do anything about them.

this is a direct quote of yours from that partial birth abortion debate:

"a baby as long as she is in her mothers womb, its mothers body, mothers responsibility, in her capacity she can do what she wants based on her extreme circumstances"

so my question to you is why is this case different? its her body and her responsibilty........despite getting education from the doctor she still decided to smoke.

yes its her choice however my judgement on her will be different read no sympathy for her but you cant do anything you cannot force her to quit smoking you can try though and help as much as it is needed to quit her from smoking

Smoking and drinking during pregnancy is a complete no no, if the mother wishes to have a healthy baby. In fact as soon as one starts planning doctors advise not to smoke or drink, as the mother's body needs to be healthy prior to pregnancy because it is going to be a home for your child for the next 9 months. Therefore drinking and smoking during pregnancy should be abstained and is a complete NO!!! Guess the lady you saw at a fair must be an addict to smoking and just dont care.
