Amitabh Bachchan's mother-in-law celebrated an old ritual of 'Jamai Shrusti' with the megastar by offering him new clothes, fruits and by fanning him.

Early Thursday morning, he took to his blog to share his day's proceedings on Wednesday.

"It was 'jamai shrusti' today...the mother-in-law does a prayer and offering for the son-in-law...a Bengali tradition, conducted with immense affection by Jaya's mother, who is on a visit here in Jalsa (Amitabh's house)," Big B posted on srbachchan.tumblr.com.

"Fruits are offered, new clothing is given, a hand fan is used to fan the son in law, with fruit on it...such old ritual..a story of why and how it all started was also narrated to me during the pooja, but I could not understand it," he added.

Amitabh married Jaya June 3, 1973, and they have two children - son Abhishek and daughter Shweta. They have clocked 41 years of marital bliss.

With wife Jaya out of town, Amitabh Bachchan celebrates 41st anniversary with son Abhishek

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 41st wedding anniversary by spending time with his son Abhishek as wife Jaya was out of the country.

"Blessings from elders, from family and the extended family makes the day delightful and comfortable, even though the wife is out of the country... 41 years! It has been a while has it not in the life of an individual.

"I insisted we (Abhishek and I) chill at home.. So, we chatted and exchanged notes and saw two movies back to back.. Yaa, you guessed right.. Action movies..! And when that was over back to our pastime - Football and watching the run up to the World Cup," Bachchan posted on his blog.

Bachchan,71, married Jaya on June 3, 1973 and they have two children - Abhishek and daughter Shweta.

The Bhootnath Returns' star feels that their children are the biggest strength of their lives. "Our report card does not deal with numbers and comment... it merely emphasises the reports of our progeny - Shweta and Abhishek. They are our numbers, standings, rankings, marks... what ever! They be right we all are right!!," he added.

Credit for that long lasting marriage should go to Jaya who put up with him despite his affair with Rekha.🤢
I find him orthodox. He not only performs traditional stuff but also publicly boasts about it, shows off.

I do not like these customs that involve women worshipping husbands, brothers, sons, sons in law. Why put men on a pedestal? Respect is fine. Worshipping is not needed for anyone except God.

Chaperoning Daughter and granddaughter.

Big B had written in his blog that JB, Shweta and Navya are holidaying in London.

Ash and Baby A must have joined them after the Cannes trip.
