IMO , The main reason south stars fail to make it in BW is because of their looks . Sad but truth . The dont enjoy the fandom which good-looking-non-actors enjoy ( Eg : Dhanush )

Rajnikanth invented swag. I grew watching him and I know I am just succembing to the stereotype of a tamil girl but the truth is if you watch his older movies like padhaiyappa etc, you will ignore all the hamming and terrible acting and start liking him solely because of his style. No one can beat his style. He can't act as well as Kamal or Amitabh ( I am a huge fan of both ) but he still rules the south because of he makes every role his own .

And every one has this huge misconception that rajni is south indian. He is actually marathi. He lived in bangalore where he was a bus conductor ( My grandfather used to go on the same bus). He was recognized because of the way he lit his cigarette.

I starting liking him only after watching that movie .

There was one movie of his called Mullum Malarum . Rajini was fabulous in it but that movie . He never got fame when he acted well .

Again , he did Kuselan but that movie was a flop without a stylish Rajini .

Rajini is good in the negative roles ( like in Enthiran , where he was appreciated for the robot character ) . Infact , he started off his career only as a villain .

He is not as god as Kamal . Kamal is in a different league .
