Was Kangana considered not mature enough for Sujoy Ghosh's film?

While it's widely reported that Kangana Ranaut has walked out of Sujoy Ghosh's next, Durga Rani Singh, because the dates clashed with the schedule of her scriptwriting course in New York, we have learnt that the reason in fact is that Ghosh's co-producers weren't in favour of Kangana doing the lead role.
"Sujoy's co-producers wanted a more experienced actor for the lead role. They weren't too convinced that Kangana can do justice to the role of the 35-year-old mother of a 14-year-old paralytic girl ... they wanted someone more mature," reveals a source close to the journalist-turned-filmmaker, known for films like Jhankaar Beats (2003), Aladin (2009) and the very successful Kahaani (2012).
This is the second time that Ghosh's project has run into troubled waters. In March, this year, Vidya Balan, the original choice for the lead, walked out of the project after having first signed up for the role. After this, Kangana was zeroed in for the role.
Now we hear that Ghosh is in talks with actor Kareena Kapoor Khan for the film. "They've almost finalised on Kareena ... just waiting for her to sign the contract," adds a source close to the filmmaker.
Ghosh, however, chooses to stay mum of the whole issue. "My apologies but I am not talking about my film right now," he wrote back, when asked about the recent developments.
Meanwhile, agencies reported that Kangana said no to the film because of prior commitments. "I had prior commitments, so I could not do Sujoy's film," says Kangana. "But it is an amazing film, an amazing script and he will do best whatever it will be (sic)," she adds.
