Mohammad Rehan from Lucknow, Abhishek Kumar Mishra from Bangalore and Vartika Shukla from Bhopal - are nervous wrecks. The three are contestants of television show Indian Idol 3 and are below the age of 20. The discontent among the contestants of the show set in when their work pressure increased. They are completely cut off from their families and the growing pressure of performing is taking its toll. Apparently, in the absence of emotional succour, the trio is buckling under stress and wants to opt out of the show.
The rigor of training programmes and their isolation from home has upset their families too.
Upset with the system of the channel the families of the contestants spoke to Mumbai Mirror. Shishir Mishra, elder brother of Ahishek Mishra from Bangalore said, "I know they have a very busy schedule, but they should also understand that the contestants need emotional support. We understand that they cannot have any mobile phones but we are barred from calling them. This is not fair. If he does not get the much-needed emotional support from us, he won't be able to give his best. The amount of public pressure they are subjected to is enormous."
So is Abhishek planning to opt out of the contest? Shishir says, "I don't know what's happening inside but I think the production house should at least persuade them to continue rather than making them vulnerable to pressure. I know they will get name and fame if they win the contest, but the price should not be so big!"
