thts correct thts why she is called tai.... she is called tai by all..... just like Bappi is called as Bappida....😊

I always thought they call her that ^^. now i know what it really means!!😳

WAH WAH WAH, kya kehnay hain aapke😆, i thought the same too but is Asha Bhosle married? i dont think so then y Tai???

But now I know, Thank God i didn't ask you, thought of asking you first but then you hardly reply to PMs and on MSN i didn't want to go, u see ppl are waiting for me turn up and reply to e-mails😳😆.

So Tai=Elder Sister in Marathi.

Then why not call her "Ji", its the same too na? giving respect.

Spandu, thank you for telling me😡😆 i knew it but forgot the name when posting the topic😳

Well Asha Bhosle is marati - that is why the Tai. There is nothing wrong with Ji either. But I suppose since she is Marati most people just like to address in the way she prefers :)

Similarly Bappi and Pancham are both Bengali - so they are called BappiDa and PanchamDa respectively. Hope this answers your doubts.

Lata got instant fame in hindi world so didi is used... Asha had to be differentiated and non-marathi people use the same tittles when visiting a marathi household... for closeness. more common amongst gujarathi visitors... so for thakerey is refered to as balasaheb...alhtough he is bal thackerey...etc...
