Why husky vioce preferred over melodious?

Hi Guys,

I have been thinking abt it for quite a time... why does people prefer husky voice over melodious voice??

I have been watching these musical shows, when I was just 13 yrs old (I m talking abt saregamapa, which is Gajji's show and Sonu Nigam was the host ), ... that was the age when I didnt know much abt music.... but always felt good, when I listened to the songs.. it had the classical touch and people had lot of knowledge abt the sur, taal, raag and so on .. I m not denying the fact that we shud not have rock music.... but rock is not an Indian origin.... offlately I have noticed that contestants witth husky voice are given more preference than the melodious voice... does that mean to say that we dont need any classical singers?? In my opinion the melody of the song is heard thru heart and it touches the heart only if the voice is sweet and clear enough to understand and it gives u piece of mind...

I agree with you. I dont know why there is an increasing trend towards loud and husky voice. I am disaapointed with the judging.

i agree with u... i feel these songs r easier to sing and catchy to hear... so more people opt for them...

Yes, I agree with you both... I guess the bollywood has totally adopted the western style and they r looking for noise not melodious music..

Correct..We Indians always lag behind in every field bcoz we try to follow others rather than strengthening our potential.
You see Middle eastern, Chinese or Japanese people, they never leave their culture. But being Indians we shd be really proud of our rich heritage n culture. Instead of tht, we r trying to bcome westernised in evry thg. Be it lifestyle or music or dance...
I really feel disgusted when I hear the noises rather than melodies nowadays.
n For the people who admire such music, tell me one thing. When u listen to a song which was ur fav 2 months bak, do u feel the same urge for listening to tht song now also???
I know most of u will say no. tht means these music dont leave an impact for long..


I really miss the yesteryear's music... 😭
