What's wrong with US?

Today the character of US has totally gone over my head. What does this man want? Few min earlier he was so angry with Marwar,he rejected friendship with it, he even scolded his dearest son for supporting Marwar,he insulted Phool being the princess of Marwar and what not. And then just a letter from a samant & a young girl's request to arrange Pratap & Phool's marriage has changed him. If that was a political issue, then where was his political sense for so many years?? Couldn't he think of it long before? But wasn't he even against sending invitation to Marwar? Then what has happened now? When his own ministry, his own son can't change his mind, who is this little girl to influence his decision all at a sudden?
OK, for a minute if we think that the sudden Mughal attack has insisted him to change his decision, then can't he see Phool's stubborn attitude, even she was ignoring his order? Even he isn't hesitating to doubt & fight his intelligent wife's decision whom he claims to love very much. Or is it like he can compromise with his son's life but not with his kingdom?

I agree, and I didn't like today's episode so much , disappointed it was confusing 😕
