You got it wrong there. She just did not put feelings into the song, thats why it sounded so weird.

Himani had done that.

You see it does not matter which genre song you are singing, it can be a fast beat disco number, it can be a seductive number, it can be a sad song, it can be a masti number, it can be a bhajan or a patriotic song...but when you sing, the mood of song should be captured. These are sung by playback singers who are lending their voice to the actors/actresses it is picturized on.So the scene to which the song is dedicated to, that mood, that emotion, that depth, that should be portrayed.

had Koyal got her feel into the song, it would have been a different story.

It is like this some people like to put the emotion in the song, some people like to put the emotion in the dance and some wanna put the emotion in the clothing or hairstyle

Generally viewers of a talent hunt like the people who put the emotion in the dance or clothing or the hairstyling and call it X Factor 😉

Sikandar has a good "kharaj" voice, but he didn't have very good expression either, for e.g. in the antara where
Pandit Kishore Kumar was fantastic even in the little sighs. Some things just can't be taught. I am a music teacher and it is easy to teach the technical aspects of singing, but "soul" has to come from within.
The problem with the Canadian lady (Richa?)'s singing was
clarity. She tried to put some feeling in, but the singing lacked clarity. Once again, ALL FEMALE singers need to reduce their pitch by atleast a half note. The natural female pitch is not C# or D, it is A# or B.
If you go back to the 1930s and listen to some brilliant singers like Zohrabai (milke bichad gayee akhiyan), you will know what I mean.

And well said Adi 👏. Diwakar really touched everyones heart with the Black song and i think Sameer's Tujhse Naraaz should be right at the top of the songs that were sung with real emotion.

However sometimes its hard adding feeling/emotion to a song that doesnt directly reflect upon yourself nor your surroundings...I think its then when its get a bit difficult to sing such a song with feelings....

I agree, the contestants need to put more emotion into the song so we can actually feel the condition of the song. None of the contestants up 'til now have really put emotion into their songs...I hope they sing from within and put life into the lyrics...Even I was thinking that today's episode was kind of dull, there was no magical spark...emotion is really important. I can still remember the exact time when Sameer sang Tujhse Naraaz Nahin, it was just wonderful!!👏👏👏

Frankly, I would have preferred it if Richa had gotten the green. Nirupama was very average and her song was simpler to sing, but she had a clearer voice. For some judges, clarity seems more important. Richa needs to really work on her "microphone voice". There is a big difference in technique between singing with and without the microphone.

I think Harpreet really put all the emotions in his rendition of o majhi re.... I heard it many times on my DVR and it touched me everytime.

And talking about putting your entire heart, soul into the song and capturing all the feelings, I can't think of a better example than Rafi saab's ..babul ki duvae leti ja, ja tujhko sukhi sansar mile...when asked how he could put such feelings in the song, Rafi saab said in an interview that his daughter was married just few months before the song was recorded and he remembered her and the bidai moment, brought back the feeling that he had in mind at that time, and put those in the song.

very true everyone 😊

i know when a singer has truly immersed themselves into a song - it's when i get that 'electric-shock' feeling when i'm listening...

yup, prime examples are diwakar's song from black, sharib's 'tadap tadap', hemachandra's 'tanhaiyee'...plus many more

i'm sure as the contestants settle in and become more comfortable, we'll have more great performances 😉
