After watching today's episode its evident that these singers are not enjoying the song while singing.. They are not giving the songs the feeling, the life that is actually needed.. Even if one goes out of sur but still enjoys the song - it maynot be evident and gets unnoticed.. But when you sing in perfect sur, but still donot give the actual life needed, it does get noticed..

The contestants must learn from the songs while practicing and start understanding the emotion involved.. Now, the mentors can tell them if they contestants are technically singing correct - but what if in the stage - they loose to give the proper feeling..

Asha Tai always points this out to every other the contestants, but they dont seem to get the point that she says..

We all want to hear a song which has life and not a bejaan song.. Request to contestants is that - Put a life to it please..

Honestly, I have failed to understand the "life" word in context of the song...The song I found to be super-duper was dissed by Asha Tai for "lacking-life" reason. 😆 😆 😆 ...This is just such a subjective term that I wil lprobably never understand.. 😛

I agree with both Anu and Asha Tai.

A song is nothing unless it touches your heart, and the reason a song touches your heart is because it has a life of its own, or a feel in place. This is the "perfect chemistry" our HH & LL used to talk about.

Take for example a song like " aye mere vatan ki logon.." sung by Lataji. When we hear her sing it, it kind of takes us along to those days of struggle and sacrifice and we can literally feel it. How can we feel it, because of the way, Lata didi added life to the sur and the words, the pathos, which creates this magic.

The same song over time can be sung by many. Especially in contests we hear it sung. But most of the time, we like the rendition, nod our head on all sides like Vishal Shekhar does for Mauli's song, but we do not get that lump in the throat or that tear drop in the eye! Why is it that everytime when we hear Lataji sing, we feel it and for these participants we dont feel the same way... its because along with being technically perfect, lata didi had put in her life and soul intot he song, to make the situation so real.

It is that heart and soul or the life that Latadi had added, that is what is missing . A song can be technically perfect, but it may not have that broader impact.

Lets take Nihira for example. Remember the song that she sang the day she got eliminated..."Rahe na rahe hum", there was no accompanying music, there was nothing, but when she sang it, we heard her, felt her words, realised how much we would miss her, her words made some impact on us...we all were moved. That is singing a song with feel.

The same thing happened in Lil Champs too. Diwakar, on the grand finale day when he sang that Black song - ha meine chhu kar dekha hain... he did not do anything extra to the sur or taal other than adding his own feelings to it, we could really understand his pathos, the pain the struggle , the sentiments just through the rendition. He mesmerised us all. It not not just his dad who had a tear in his eye, there were many more, who shed a few drops too.

That is called feeling. Adding life to the lyrics, to the sur and taal- creating a magical moment! and sad to say, but it is really missing in the contests...

Manish, it again depends upon the person's perspective.. Now, a song may touch my heart while it may not touch urs.. So, u might feel that there was no life.. But here the point is - showing right emotions in the song.. For example the song Inhaan ho gayi intzaar ki is a song whr a person is remembering someone close to him - for which u need to add the right feeling while of missing someone.. If you do not add that, while its picturized - will u feel that the actor is actually missing someone?? No na.. Its about adding the right emotion for the song.. Music is all but emotions.. If emotions are not added, you will not get the feel when the song is being picturized

I know what you are saying Anu...As I said...it is something which cannot be measured...i can only be felt....which is why different rendition strike different souls differently (Did I konfuze you with my circumlocution?😆)

Reminds me of "Tujhse naraaz nahi zindagi" rendition by Sameer.....or that song by Paresh where received 10/10 from mentors...(forget the song)😛

The song that Paresh sang that was highly praised was Na Tum Jaano Na Hum from Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. Is this the one you are talking about?

And well said Adi 👏. Diwakar really touched everyones heart with the Black song and i think Sameer's Tujhse Naraaz should be right at the top of the songs that were sung with real emotion.

However sometimes its hard adding feeling/emotion to a song that doesnt directly reflect upon yourself nor your surroundings...I think its then when its get a bit difficult to sing such a song with feelings....

So right Anu, as of now no singer has really moved me emotionally, Sayan really impressed me and Junaid and some others but still am not being able to connect with them.. whereas in the past, I've cried when some have sang emotional songs and can really get the feeling of the song..

Sur is not the only thing but you have to put feeling into it, otherwise the whole essence of the song goes away.. hope we can hear some of this soon!! 😳

Ashaji had commented once, during this challenge round, that dance should come from your Dil,not body movements.Dil se gaanaa--that is the soul of a song. The best of playbackk singers from Lataji,Ashaji,to Rafisab and Kishorda knew the secret. They could visualize the particular situation to which they were lending their voice.Classical singers immerse themselves into the bandish and the ragas that they sing.
Anways, these contestants are still inexperienced and the better ones among them will leran how to inject feelings in what they sing. Those who dont leran will be left behind.Nihira knows it.
Good topic.
