Anshuman and Paakhi: Right or Wrong?

There has been a lot of discussion going on about whether or not Anshuman has suffered enough, about whether Paakhi was right in leaving Ayaan, and whether her reaction is justified. I decided to make a post regarding my thoughts on the situation.

What Anshuman said was wrong - calling her characterless was a big jolt for Paakhi, who expected her husband to trust her, whose identity was marked by her own dignity. The fact of the matter is, though, that the evidence that was presented to Anshuman was very reputed and smartly planted. A doctor's note, and then even a confirmation from the doctor when Anshuman called him... that itself is more than enough for many people in today's society to doubt their wives. On top of that, noticing this boy who has the same name and comes from the same city as your wife's ex-boyfriend, in your house over and over again (even catching him in her room), that is another piece of smartly planted evidence. On top of that, Anshuman noticed his mom being thrown out for the same reason by his dad - for cheating on him. Anshuman was already exposed to this situation and if his mom could be unfaithful, why could Paakhi not be? This is simply from Anshuman's point of view.

The purpose of this track is to strengthen their bond. What many couples in today's world goes through, even if they initially have trust in their relationship, is they eventually lose the trust based on circumstances. Anshuman and Paakhi are going through that same phase in every couple's life. The best way to learn is through experience and now that Anshuman and Paakhi have gone through this experience, they will move forward and will never lose faith in each other again. They are lucky that this phase came early on in their marriage, because I've seen couples who have been married for years (10 - 20 , even more), whose marriages are falling apart because they're accusing each other of infidelity.

Now to discuss the whole track of bringing Paakhi back, I'll start off with Anshuman. Anshuman in my eyes, first and foremost, has gone through a lot in order to bring Paakhi back. He has had to adjust to living in the village, has walked barefoot causing himself pain, walked behind Paakhi all day long to protect her from the sun, to make sure she is okay, and even got himself almost killed today. His dialogue in today's episode just shows how far he could go to get Paakhi back ("Tumhari maafi ki khaatir aaj agar mere jaan bhi chale jaate toh mujhe koi faraak nahi parta" - for your forgiveness, even if I had to die today, I would not mind). That one line says it all. He would die for Paakhi to forgive him. He has realized his mistake from the bottom of his heart and is willing to pay for it, no matter how severe the consequences are.

Paakhi, her character was questioned, and for her, her self-respect matters a lot, so she walked out of her house in Shimla. All of that is fine, because the girl needed to sort out her thoughts and decide what she wanted to do. A lot of people may not agree with this and I might be dodging some bullets when I say this, but a marriage does not and should not end just because your spouse says mean words to you at the heat of the moment. We insult each other all the time - we might have insulted our parent's, our best friends, anybody else who is close to us when we get into arguments with them. They must have been hurt to hear the hurtful words from our mouths, but the relationship did not end like that. For me, Paakhi is justified, as long as she is just doing this to sort out her thoughts, but she is not justified if she wants to break her marriage and abandon her son, which brings me to my next point.

Ayaan. He has developed so much since his entry into the story. After going through so much in his life, he has opened his heart and accepted Paakhi as his mother. Paakhi has successfully made the bond between him and Anshuman strong to the point that their bond will never break, which might make leaving Ayaan okay in her perspective, because she knows that the father-son duo will always have - and only need - each other. However, all Ayaan wanted was a happy family. He wants Anshuman, Paakhi, and himself to all be happy together. Just because he has his dad, who has been with him all his life, does not mean that he can forget his mother at the snap of a finger. I don't know whether Paakhi realizes this or not. I don't know whether she even thinks about Ayaan and what he may go through if she leaves. He already lost his mother once, and just got both his mom and dad back, but now if his mom leaves their family, he would be losing his mother again. Ayaan is a mature kid, he would understand that Paakhi left, and he would probably forgive her too, but at the same time, Anshuman, no matter how much he tries, will not be able to fill that empty void in Ayaan's heart as he grows up, that only Paakhi would be able to fill.

I know I have a lot of different ideas going on in my mind, but at the moment, I think that Paakhi would be justified in telling Anshuman that a mother should be the most important lady in any persons life, and until Anshuman is able to forgive his mother, she would feel uneasy going back with him. That would be sensible, and I think that is what is coming (as said in the SBS segment). About Ayaan, even if I feel like it's a little too much to leave Ayaan motherless, Paakhi is confident that her son would stay on the right path because Anshuman will be there to guide him every second of the day. Paakhi may think that Ayaan will be upset over losing her for a few days, maybe even a few months, but eventually he'll forget her because she was not there all his life... and the same might even hold true about Anshuman.

Anshuman has fought for his love, and so has Paakhi. Anshuman needs patience and Paakhi needs to heal. My heart goes out to Ayaan the most in this matter. The child has not made a mistake, yet he's suffering for his parent's deeds - as children are always the biggest victims when their parent's get into an argument.

I love this show and the CVs continue to present their tracks and their flawed characters, Anshuman and Paakhi, in a very realistic, sensitive and beautiful manner.

A very nice analysis. Yes the decision is made and pakhi is moving on. But today I felt so much for anshuman. What else can any one do to amend their mistakes. Anshuman is sorry not only for himself but for aayan also he wants pakhi back. Because he knows he has no right to take his mother from his life. Anshuman has done maximum to atone his mistake.
Pakhi is selfless stronger than anshuman and do justice in any circumstances.
But somehow I am not ok with her decision to be away from aayan. she knows anshuman is sincere and he loves her and she loves him. still to move away may be she also need some time to come to terms.
Curious to see what is in store for anshuman and pakhi.
Looking forward tp is quite entertaining and meaningful show

I felt really bad for Anshuman too. He can't really do anything else, he has done everything that he could do, and far more than the regular guilty person would do. All of this between Paakhi-Anshuman is affecting Ayaan too, and Paakhi needs to see that.

You know, after watching today's episode, I am just blown away all over again by this show!

The way I see it, they are actually addressing Pakhi's flaws and faults through this track, and not letting her character get away with being "perfect." If Anshuman's fatal flaw is his lack of trust then Pakhi's fatal flaw has always been her tendency to blindly trust. Seeing her with her family only makes this all the more clear. She was brought up so sheltered, so loved and so indulged that she never knew how cruel the world could be (actually, Chutki, the little romantic, is a perfect reflection of what Pakhi's childhood must have been like just as Ayaan was a reflection of Anshuman in the beginning!).

We all thought at the beginning that it was a little extreme for Pakhi to love a stranger, who had all but forgotten her, so unconditionally. But we all came up with our own explanations and justifications; mine was to see this story like a fairytale and Pakhi and Anshuman as very stock characters. But with this track, the CVs brought the story right down to earth and I love it!

What Pakhi said today was so meaningful. She has always defined herself based on others and in the process, never took the time to figure out who she is, on her own. First it was her eighteen-year wait for Anshuman that defined her, and then all the tests and changes to become the wife that Anshuman wanted and the mother that Ayaan needed. She even used to say that she saw herself only through Anshuman's eyes (which I will admit now used to make me cringe a little! 😆).

She made her identity so dependent on everything Anshuman (his family, his lifestyle, his happiness), as women are taught to do in Indian families, and we kind of just accepted it as audience because of the positive changes she brought out in Ayaan and Anshuman. But if you think about it from a realistic perspective, what if Anshuman hadn't been the guy he turned out to be, the one who always had it in him to love Pakhi? What if he had actually been someone like Rana, for example, who had jumped on the chance to get rid of her and let her stay in jail her whole life? Finally, when Anshuman did take the whole identity she had built up around him and Ayaan away with his accusations, she had nothing left and no idea who the hell she was! At the same time, she couldn't just return to her old life and be the old Pakhi because so much of that Pakhi was defined by her wait for Anshuman, and her experiences in Shimla had changed her irrevocably.

It has dawned on Pakhi that she gave her trust too easily to Anshuman and while I think she has forgiven him for his mistake, she hasn't forgiven herself for hers, that is putting her whole identity into his hands and letting his words and feelings define her. It is her anger at herself that is making her behave so differently than we have ever seen before. Pakhi has to learn to love herself again, manaofy herself, and only then can she be ready to accept Anshuman's love. That is precisely why she has to go away and be without him for a while and I am so proud of the PH for creating a female character who realizes this! And of course Anshuman's mother will be the perfect role model for creating your own identity from scratch.

Bhaisa's speech about doing her vidai was such an interesting way to express this too. This time, they were giving Pakhi, not to any man, but to herself, giving her the right to form her own identity. As her scattered letters will testify, she is graduating from "tumhari Pakhi," always possessed and defined by someone to... just Pakhi!

Excluding Ayaan from the equation, I think Pakhi was completely justified in leaving Anshuman. She has been through so much since she started living with Anshuman, and what did she ever get in return from Anshuman? A week of romance, which was practically initiated by her as well.

What hasn't Pakhi done for Anshuman? The woman put her own reputation and dignity on the line, just to protect his egotistical reputation, and that too in front of camera's. She brought happiness into the lives of Anshuman and Ayaan. She taught Anshuman how to develop a bond with his son, she taught him how to show love to his son, and how nothing in life is more important than family.

She treated Ayaan like her own son, and remember Ayaan wasn't always this sweet kid, he gave her a hard time, but instead of giving up on him, she realised why Ayaan was giving her a hard time and worked hard to earn his love and trust. She didn't do all that just for herself, she did it mainly for Ayaan. She did it all, even when Ayaan's own father didn't bother to delve further into Ayaan's feelings.

Pakhi gave her all, I seriously don't know what more she could've done. And all she wanted in return was a bit of love from Anshuman, and she didn't get that. He couldn't even say the words without calling her characterless, he simply said I love you to spite her in the end. So I don't think him walking barefoot and burning his feet is enough, nor does him getting beaten up by her brother warrant him to be forgiven, why should it? It's not like she wanted him beaten up. Why should she forgive him just because she feels bad for him?

Pakhi should forgive him when she feels is right. She went through months of hard times, yes she wasn't physically beaten up, but she could've died because of his games with Tanya and using Pakhi, and she was trodden all over emotionally. Just because he says he's sorry for a week doesn't make up for everything he has put her through.

As for Pakhi leaving Ayaan, I don't think leaving him is right, she calls herself his mother, and if she truly believes that she will always be in his life no matter what, but again that doesn't mean she has to forgive or be with Anshuman.

I think people are too quick to forgive Anshuman. Of course I feel bad for him, but he has put Pakhi through so much, and she always loved him, and he didn't care. So now that he's realised his wrongdoings, why should Pakhi automatically fall into his arms?

You described it perfectly! Anshuman's flaw was not trusting enough, while her flaw was trusting too much, and in both cases, the way they were raised plays a pivotal role in how they are now. This separation is needed for Paakhi to get to know herself, to make her own identity apart from being part of the family who has only pampered her, and from being Anshuman's wife. She needs that independence. Only then, I think, she can go back to Anshuman. More than what Anshuman can do to make Paakhi forgive him, it's about what Paakhi can do to come to terms with herself - she needs to discover who she is before she goes back to Anshuman.

I think she has forgiven Anshuman too, but she needs to build up her own character first. He called her characterless, so she's going to figure out what her character is like from being away from Anshuman and away from her family now.

I am proud of this PH too. Actually, from what I noticed about this PH out of two of their shows with similar situations I've watched (including this one), one was too quick to forgive, and one was too hesitant. It beautifully shows how forgiveness doesn't lie on the situation, but on the person. In both shows, each person was right in their own way. In the other show I watched, it made sense that she forgave her husband easily because it fit with her characterization. Here, it's the same way - Paakhi is right to not go back to Anshuman until she creates her own identity and independence first because it is her characterization.

She is justified in leaving Anshuman because she wants to figure out her own identity, she wants to take time to come to terms with herself without having Anshuman in the equation. Paakhi has done a lot for Anshuman, but relationships aren't about "getting even" - they take work, but in no way does it mean that Anshuman has to do as much as Paakhi has done for him to deserve her. The biggest thing is that Anshuman made a mistake, like all humans do, and he is willing to pay for his mistake by suffering any kind of consequence. He won't repeat the same mistake. Mistakes are meant to be learned from.

Paakhi shouldn't forgive Anshuman because she feels bad for him - no way! She should forgive him because he has proven his love for her, and she loves him just as much too. She should forgive him because being with him will make her happy. However, it does not seem like she will be happy by simply being with him anymore - first she needs to come to terms with herself. Like Samana said in her post, she has never been given the opportunity to come to terms with her own identity. For the first 24 years of her life, she has lived as a pampered child waiting for Anshuman. Once Anshuman came and took her away, he gave her a different identity, and she looked at herself through that identity. She needs to build a character for herself, build a personality, an identity, that won't crumble under any pressure. She needs to come to terms with herself and figure out who she is. Only then will she be able to be happy with Anshuman now.

We all understand that Anshuman made a mistake and he should be forgiven, but the only person who has the right to forgive him is Pakhi. No one else can convince her or assume that she is wrong in her place to do what she did. I would love to see Pakhi forgive him, but deep down Anshuman too has to figure out the problems within him. This track like you said was meant to strengthen the relationship. We are likely to see finally an imperfection in Pakhi for the first time, however, it could be just how the CVs want us to portray her character, to make us feel that she is imperfect, rather she has something else boiling in her mind.
I do not think that leaving Aayan back was wrong of Pakhi as from the very beginning it was always her choice to make sure that the father and son never seperate, no matter what the situation, whether it be Tanya or her. While you have to admire the will of Pakhi to leave behind her "mamta", for her self-respect, you cannot say she does not feel the pain of leaving behind her only son. If the CVs had actually shown us the PoV of Pakhi, we would have actually seen how broken she is. She loves Anshuman, and probably will never stop loving him, but all she remembers is her being accused of infidelity, and that is only bringing her pain. She wants time to remove this pain, as only time heals wounds.

It's no one's fault, it's just rather a lot of confusion causing this conflict. Both characters had their rights and wrongs, and understand them. Let us just hope the CVs pull of reuniting AnKhi in a remarkable way.

You pretty much summed it up in these two bits! 👏

What I love most about Pakhi's decision to go to Delhi, my reading of it anyway, is that it has so little to do with her relationship with Anshuman, which is a side thing at this point; it is all about her relationship with herself. Like she said to her family, Anshuman is their jamai and he will remain their jamai. She is not moving past Anshuman, but the version of herself that was defined by him.

I agree with you that Anshuman has done all that he possibly can to gain her forgiveness, and I think Pakhi would agree too. Part of the reason she left is probably because she doesn't enjoy watching/making Anshuman suffer and struggle to please her when she knows he isn't the main issue (ironically contrary to his assumption that she wanted revenge).

But what really makes me happy (which I mentioned in another post earlier) is that it is none other than Anshuman who has made this journey of self-discovery possible for Pakhi. She opened his eyes to his flaws gradually, and he has opened her eyes to hers in the flash of a second with one huge jolt of reality. Before Pakhi, Anshuman knew exactly who he was, THE Anshuman Rathore, but was blind to those around him. Pakhi is of course the opposite, she knew exactly what was right for everyone around her but in the process failed to think of what was right for her (like when she stayed back after knowing the truth because of what Girish told her).

And as much as we used to roll our eyes when he said this, Anshuman was right about Pakhi being "too good" for him, except that it wasn't really a compliment. She made herself flawless in his eyes and it made him feel inferior all the time, which is why despite proclaiming constantly how great she was, respecting her and being physically attracted, he couldn't really fall in love for so long... also probably why he kept gravitating towards Tanya before he knew her true colors; at least Tanya was real and flawed, thanks to her selfishness. It was only in the girlfriend-boyfriend challenge, with the physical stuff, that Anshuman got a chance to be the leader in the relationship. I don't think it's a coincidence that that's when he fell in love!

Here's hoping her time in Delhi will make Pakhi a little more selfish and of course, self actualized, and that by the time they meet again, Anshuman (and we) will be pleasantly surprised by the new, real, owning-her-flaws Pakhi! 😉

PS: This is also the time for Anshuman to step up and show that Pakhi's presence didn't go in vain. I want him to be a good guy without her too, and be a good dad to Ayaan. I am not liking this "isolated man" stuff I just read on the forum! 😕

Hugs to all of you.🤗

Beautiful and mature discussion. This is one forum where I always read good discussion and I enjoy reading it.

I am not a very good writer myself but I enjoy reading good writing.

Last two episodes made me very sad in the sense I feel pain of both Pakhi and Anshuman. You all are right Pakhi needs to identify herself and Anshuman needs to learn to live without Pakhi, as a new improved and mature person.

This separation will make both very strong in their own way and finally they will be together as a happy family which will include Aayan's Dadi too.😃
