It is always the self-conscious ones that comes across as fake because they are fearful of what others might say or what might happen to them if they said what they wanted to do. I don't think they are fake per say, but they have created this "persona" or "image" and they stick to that image, because they are superstitious enough to believe that image leads to their success.
We always expect others to be real or to be themselves, but even when act like themselves we criticize them. E.g. Sonam Kapoor & Kareena Kapoor (both could learn a lot of things but they come across as themselves). Even Ranveer Singh is quite real, but when he appeared on KWK with Anushka most people criticized him.
The more I look at Bollywood the more I realize there is no pleasing anyone. No matter what they do they will be criticized even if they come across as honest there will be someone who finds them fake.
