Wow, today was a milestone episode with the curtains closing on Maham Anga ... I am not sure if this is her final act ... But take a bow Ashwiniji, what an amazing act today. Well, by now you know one thing that made it to my top 5.

So, without much ado, here is my take 5 today, in sets of three (you will see what I mean):

(1) Shehnaaz-Jodha interaction: There were three things I liked in this scene
- Shehnaaz bluntly calling out Jodha's bewaqoofi (and why does Jodha think if someone is her friend, they can never find fault with her?)
- Jodha finally opening up her fear that he would hurt her again ... But her fear is that he accused her "bina soche samjhe" which means she still doesn't understand the circumstances that drove Jalal's behavior and her role in it ... Hopefully, Shaguni Bai will clarify that tomorrow
- I actually liked the rose analogy Shehnaaz used because it showed that what Jalal did to Jodha was an accidental prick ... A little thorn, in a much bigger rose that was Jalal's love. He wasn't a dagger waiting to attack her without rhyme or reason.

I am not sure what Jodha meant by my prem has actually increased now ... If anybody understood, please explain.

I don't know in the long run whether I will like Shehnaaz or not, but today I liked her and glad Jodha is opening up as well.

(2) Atgah Khan and his wife: Again, three things I liked about this couple:
- Atgah Khan's understanding that this will hurt Jalal but it is important for him to know ... He knows and cares for Jalal so much
- Atgah Khan was about to hesitate doubting Maham Anga's intentions when his wife rightly noted that it might have been a saazish against Jodha Begum as Maham Anga never liked her ... I must say, this lady is brilliant!
- Atgah Khan's dedication to Jalal ... After telling his suspicions to Jalal, he says that if I am wrong , then you can kill me ... That self-less dedication was the final word that Jalal knew his worst fears were true even before he confronted Maham Anga

They truly represent a wonderful husband-wife couple! Look forward to seeing scenes like this between Jodha and Jalal in the future.

(3) Closing of loopholes ... The spy who gave Jalal the false news about Sujamal ends up being the weak link for Maham Anga ... Again, three things I liked about this:
- Jalal's memory has sharpened where he remembers the spy ... But of course, when it comes to his Jodha, he is always the sharpest.
- Many , including me, had predicted Maham Anga, was leaving a trail with this spy ... How great it was to be right for a change!
- I hope this is a bigger sign that the CVs are closing loopholes ... I am amazed they remembered this spy when they have forgotten bigger thibfs

(4) Take a bow Maham Anga / Ashwiniji : I do not agree with any of her actions ... But her performance today was utterly convincing. I have seen villains in the past ... But never seen one that was so convinced she was right and had not one regret. Three things I liked about her performance:
- Her dialogues and case were well articulated to show how she was so convinced that she had done so much more for Jalal than Jalal had done for her ... referring to how she had saved his life, made him into a Shehenshah, and had earned her right to be a minister
- She did not show an ounce of regret what she had done ... In fact, accused Jalal of distancing himself from her because of Jodha ... It was cold-blooded in real life but outstanding performance-wise to see
- I thought there was an amazing change in her expressions in the final moment when Jalal said she lost her most precious thing ... Her son... As if, it finally hit her what she was losing. Anyone else notice this?

I was surprised she referred to Bairam Khan as she made the case as I thought even Jalal knew how much she disliked him. Any thoughts on this?

(5) Jalal's reactions as he faces the reality of Maham Anga:
- From the first time he hears the truth to when he confronts Maham Anga there is a significant transition: First, denial as he raised the sword against Atgah Khan, Second, dawning reality as he dropped the sword, and Third, he was convinced by the time Maham Anga arrived and he addressed her by name

Jalal showed that he does use evidence to judge all his loved ones today ... even his dear Ammijaan. Once the evidence was out, he didn't give his Ammijaan any benefit of the doubt ... Something he even gave Jodha. It was not blind trust he had on Maham Anga ... It was just that she had covered her tracks so well before.

- He was dignified and stoic as Maham Anga ranted and raved ... He did not break down as Maham Anga was telling how she conspired against him ... He cried, but it was understated ... He did not fall to his knees. I respect him for this strength.

- Loved his conviction and strength when he said ... You have lost your most precious thing, your son,

A few observations about the precap:
- Tomorrow, we will see a heartbroken Jalal sharing with Ruqaiyya how Maham Anga betrayed him and separated him from Jodha... Ruqs looks absolutely shocked ... I am not sure because of finding out about Maham Anga's intentions, worried he knows her role in the schemes, or seeing Jalal's worry about Jodha.
- How I wish his true soul mate, Jodha, was there in this time of need ... But, it is Ruqs, his childhood best friend, who is by his side while Jodha is still trying to sort her internal turmoil
- I am glad Jodha has accepting that she is not feeling proud of standing up for herself ... I think many had predicted this ... So, all who did, take a bow! This will be attempt 4 at making her understand after Jalal, Mainavati, and Shehnaaz ... Perhaps, she will be fourth time lucky and us as well ?!?

So, what were your thoughts on the episode?

At the outset let me say - Ashwini's performance was the OTT perfection needed for today. And RT's was the understated perfection that went beyond Ashwini - And RT's performance today showed what was missing on the 4th April outburst - This 22 year old is a powerhouse performer - Now I seriously want to see him on stage!!!!!! Infact one has to see his face and the way it changes - the varied expressions as Ashwini makes her speech!!!! This was riveting, powerful and absolutely outstanding.👏

As for today - Jodha is still at her crossroads of choice - TE's choice is getting him his rewards from the Universe by getting rid of deadwood and bringing in his sphere those who will be with him when he gives shape and form to his dream.😃

I am waiting for Jodha to climb off her high horse and get a good look at herself - and I want her to remember that time when she was upset on why she was constantly seeing Jalal's Ghangor reflection when she was to be married to another. I want her to reflect on what her husband has always done for her and hers. I know I am asking for the Sun, Moon and the Stars!!!!

My dear Divya,

As usual, I loved your take on this episode, all of it. Now see how much you like my decidedly frivolous one!

Mahaam today was superbly over the top. This is necessary at times, as it was with Jalal on April 4, and she made the most of the opportunity. It was like a stage performance, where you have to up the decibel level to reach the back rows, but the sheer ferocity and the unrelenting flow of the tirade were impressive. She clearly believes that the best form of defence is attack, and she tried to press all of Jalal's gratitude buttons, but given the circumstances, she was forced to be crude and in his face, which cramped her style badly.

As for your question as to why she gave Bairam Khan, whom she hated, equal billing with herself, that was to make her long litany of what she had done for Jalal convincing. If she had talked only of herself, it would have looked like self-glorification, now it sounds like a genuine complaint. Then again, she wants to make Jalal feel guilty about what happened to Bairam Khan (she does not know what all Jalal offered him, or that the Mecca trip was Bairam Khan's own choice), and by extension, prevent him from doing anything drastic to her.

Jalal was correspondingly, and even more superbly, under the top in that scene, his crumpling face seared with the unexpected agony of being betrayed by the one he had trusted blindly. Rajat produced more variations of expression within this basic palette than I could count, and this without saying a word till the very end. Truly magisterial.

Earlier, one saw the original Shahenshah, sharp, intuitive, and dominating, both with Atgah and with the witnesses.

Jodha was her usual sulky, self-righteous self, except that the mumps seem to have receded.

It was odd that there was not an iota of mental turmoil, of suffering, or of a sense of deep loss in Jodha's face as she was consulting Shaguni Bai. Decked out in her full Xmas tree regalia - is it not de rigueur for a virahotkhandita nayika (heroine in the throes of separation from her beloved) to be as little adorned as possible?😉 - she looks puzzled and only mildly concerned, as if she is trying to get Shaguni to unearth a lost piece of jewellery, not a lost love. 😉

I almost laughed out loud when Jodha, having turned her back on Shehnaaz (presumably so as to camouflage the disconnect between her words and her expression) said that her prem (for Jalal, one takes it!) has actually increased. It was unintentionally comic, like a schoolgirl reciting her lines in a school play!

Tomorrow, Jalal will turn the taps on full while a bewildered and almost scared Ruqaiya looks on, uncertain how to react. How I hate men who cry like this at the drop of a hat!😡

Shaguni Bai will dispense sage counsel to Jodha, unaccompanied by her standard Om, shreem, kreem, after which Jodha will sniffle again, and talk of prem, a sentiment of which she understands nothing but that it is a word.

Jalal is always looking for a shoulder to cry on, as he has to do so much weeping (Ekta must have written it into Rajat's contract!😉) . I bet the only candidate tomorrow will be Ruqaiya. It will be interesting to see how she reacts to Jalal dissolving into a puddle of self-pity in front of her.

But why does he not apply to Hamida Banu, who must be hovering (literally, like a hovercraft!) in the wings, ready to unleash another bhashan on her pathetic son, for the aforesaid shoulder? Surely she would be more in sympathy/empathy with his torpedoed amar prem for her Jodha Beta? Why, she might then even be ready to look at his solo chehra !😉

But hark! I forgot one key impediment. Jalal would have to stand on a stool to get to her shoulder, and that would not look good for the Shahenshah, would it? 😉

Divi, it was a stupendous episode!!!👏 sometimes CVs come up with episodes that make us realize why we madly love this show..👏and today was one such!! I couldnt even blink for once!!😲
I would like to applaud Rajat And Ashiwini for their breath-taking performances!! they proved why they r class apart!👏

now coming to the epi, I loved Shehnaz today..the simple rose example she mentioned, the way she explained where Jodha is wrong and what is her actual state was so good!!👍🏼 Jodha confessed she loves Jalal now more than before...I think it is bcz what Mainavati told her yesterday...that whatever he is doing being a Shehenshah no one would have done! and she knows it very well.. did u notice how proud she looked while gloating Jalal's virtues? yes, like many predicted here along with me Jodha finally admitted it was her fear pulling her back.😊

Jalal was so awesome today!! bringing the man who told abt Sujamal was the best thing and last straw for Maham..I loved how he raised his sword to the man who was fearing of Maham..Jalal quickly noticed it and raised his sword! mind blowing!!!👏

Maham..what a shrewd lady she is!!!😲 she revealed her saazishey against Jodha but made it look like it was all out of "Maa ka pyaar" and put the whole blame on Jalal!!😲😡 and those crocodile tears! I am happy Jalal didnt fall in her trap, but cut all ties with her...and at the end her shocked face was dekhne layak!😈 she thought Jalal will cry and ask forgiveness...par paasa ulta padhgaya😈. "Doodh ka karz" is replaced by "Maa ka pyaar"😕

Atgah and Jiji Anga truly care for Jalal.❤️

precap: I loved how Jodha accepted she is not feeling proud but guilty with her decision..now that's my Jodha! I am sure Shaguni Bai will give her more doses and also tell Jalal is in trouble..then Jodha will run hearing this..Jodha really needs to be in Agra to witness Maham's downfall and to hold Jalal tight.
poor Jalal...feeling so bad for him...😭 the so called best friend he is sharing his pain to, did the same sin to him!😡 I am guessing Jalal will confess his love for Jodha tomorrow to Ruqu.

P.S. I feel Jodha will be back by Friday as Thursday will be taking off audhas from Maham.😳

P.P.S. I really dont understand why did Maham bring BK? she killed him...and plotted to create tiff b/w him and Jalal...then why praising him as if she lost a friend in form of Bairam😳 doesnt Jalal know she disliked Bairam? in fact that was the reason he married to Salima😕

Divya, today's episode was fabulous, one of the best in recent times.
RT and AK were superb today, with expressions and dialogues.
MA knows Jalal's weak/ sensitive points, so she took BK's name along with her. She wanted to make him feel guilty about, what kind of death BK faced and she tried to use it in favour of her. But the way, she accepts her crime and tells she has no regrets, true to her character. She was shattered, when Jalal said, she lost her son, as she never expected it.
Tomorrow-he is still close to Ruq and trusts her, but will have to wait for Ruq's reactions.
Jodha- no comments, until she is standing on her guroor wall, I think she is better be ignored.

Divya, awesome eppy today except for the first scene😃.
Shehnaz seems to be more brainy than Jodha👏. So no comments on Jodha😕

MA and Jalal were outstanding in every sense👏. I am sure goosebumps must hv come for all who were watching their scene😃 I dnt think we ll ever get this satisfaction wen watching Jalal/Jodha😕

I loved all points MA raised. Ashwini's portrayal looked so genuine and heartbreaking tat she has almost convinced us that there is some truth in wat she s saying😳👏👏

And i think MA started plotting against Jalal since his wedding to Jodha, isn't it? So wat MA said was true in one way that she started feeling like this only since Jodha arrived in Agra😃

My dear Divya,

As usual, I loved your take on this episode, all of it. Now see how much you like my decidedly frivolous one!

Oh come on Aunty ... You know very well I am the frivolous one ... Yours is the true in depth one. And of course I will love it for its depth and reflection as always.

Yes, it was OTT but like a stage performance it had to be. She was extremely blunt in her attack but I thought it was a well-crafted attack.

Great points- thanks for that. The guilt one I had a hint, but the self-glorification avoidance is a great add. Again, evidence, there are some SWs left in the show who can articulate apt dialogues. One day I would love your views on when the director / creatives ends and when the character begins ... As much as when an author ends ... And his characters take over,

Oh yes, his emotion variations were amazing ...

Earlier, one saw the original Shahenshah, sharp, intuitive, and dominating, both with Atgah and with the witnesses.

My favorite form of him ...

Jodha was her usual sulky, self-righteous self, except that the mumps seem to have receded.

I don't understand why she feels a friend can't correct her- does no one have that right?

It was odd that there was not an iota of mental turmoil, of suffering, or of a sense of deep loss in Jodha's face as she was consulting Shaguni Bai. Decked out in her full Xmas tree regalia - is it not de rigueur for a virahotkhandita nayika (heroine in the throes of separation from her beloved) to be as little adorned as possible?😉 - she looks puzzled and only mildly concerned, as if she is trying to get Shaguni to unearth a lost piece of jewellery, not a lost love. 😉

That is why, I am only saying perhaps we might get 4th time lucky 😆

I almost laughed out loud when Jodha, having turned her back on Shehnaaz (presumably so as to camouflage the disconnect between her words and her expression) said that her prem (for Jalal, one takes it!) has actually increased. It was unintentionally comic, like a schoolgirl reciting her lines in a school play!

I still don't see it in her actions ... But I guess if she says it , it has to be satya-vachan 😉

Tomorrow, Jalal will turn the taps on full while a bewildered and almost scared Ruqaiya looks on, uncertain how to react. How I hate men who cry like this at the drop of a hat!😡

Let's be thankful he reserves dropping to his knees for Jodha Begum ... He cries because it generates TRPs.

Shaguni Bai will dispense sage counsel to Jodha, unaccompanied by her standard Om, shreem, kreem, after which Jodha will sniffle again, and talk of prem, a sentiment of which she understands nothing but that it is a word.

I am hoping she has the insight to tell her both are wrong ... As she did tell Mainvati that it was a test for both ... She looked equally astounded by Jodha's duvidha

It is not self-pity yet ... It is hurt for now I believe. Ruqs has multiple torpedoes hitting her. Self-pity is when you cannot see beyond himself ... Obviously, he will understand the implications on Jodha,

Because she would again rant on how he lost Jodha Begum for this Maham Anga! How he doesn't understand people etc. etc.

But hark! I forgot one key impediment. Jalal would have to stand on a stool to get to her shoulder, and that would not look good for the Shahenshah, would it? 😉

Here, I thought of a serious reason and you thought of an even better one 😉
